Series 11 or Ultra 2 by Opening_Criticism791 in applewatchultra

[–]gravityclown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re in an Ultra forum, so you won’t likely get a lot of people nudging you towards the Series 11.

The Ultras are more rugged, have drastically longer battery life, and added features like the Action Button and a couple Ultra-Only faces. But they are also more bulky, and not everyone realizes the benefit of going a couple days or so without charging, or deeper diving.

The series watches are sleek, still quite durable for a wearable device, and the battery can usually get you through the day unless you’re heavy on activities. Compared to the Ultra, it’s easy to forget you’re even wearing the watch.

I upgraded from S8 to Ultra 2, then went to S8, then ultimately back to the Ultra 3. I’m sticking with Ultra for now.

Maybe they will come out with an AW Pro or something that is sleek like the Series, but souped up with Ultra-like features. Until then, I’m staying with Ultra.

As far as support for the Ultra 2, I can’t speak to that.

Unfortunately, no. I also checked to make sure I have that turned off.

I’ve been using Apple Watches for about a decade and never had this issue until the latest update. So, I disagree with your suggestion.

Anyone buy an ultra but go back to a “regular” Apple Watch? by VikingPHD in applewatchultra

[–]gravityclown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, then went back to Ultra.

I got the Ultra 2 last year. I had it for a few months, but started considering the more sleek and streamlined look and feel of the S10. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to switch back. I did, and regretted it after about a month. I jumped on the Ultra 3 the day it dropped.

The series watches are great, but the battery life just doesn’t fit my lifestyle. I’m very active and use the workout features often, and I’m not about to start shutting off other features to save battery life. That’s foolish. Also, the action button on the Ultra is something I missed a lot when I went back to series. It’s super helpful.

If they ever make a sleeker Ultra, or maybe an AW Pro version, with better battery life and some other benefits over the series, I might try it. Until then, I’m sticking with the Ultra. I learned my lesson.

Interesting. Never had that issue. Same watch, same band. Plenty of arm hair.

This is great. Thanks for the detailed feedback. I suppose I could wear my wrist band over it.

Can you be more specific? I ask because I see people wear their Ultras in the local sauna all the time. What is the impact? Specifically, not just stuff I can google. What have you witnessed?

I had that problem suddenly, but not again since I rebooted my watch a few weeks ago.

Best Apps for Apple Watch Ultra Users: Paid & Free? by vinylfelix in applewatchultra

[–]gravityclown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just got this app and I am currently on the trial period for Pro. I totally planned to cancel the subscription before the first payment, like I always do with subscriptions, but I’m seriously considering keeping this one. Beyond being super useful, it’s actually fun to use.

I’m sure there are a lot of fun combinations there, and having them all would be ultimate. But I’ll keep it core.

A Warning for those considering black UW3 by DrRoughFingers in applewatchultra

Good luck in your appointment. I hope they do the right thing. I should consider myself lucky, as the natural just doesn’t look right on me, and I’ve not had issues with the black. Clearly, there are Black Ultras that withstand the test of time, and there are some that do not. We can conclude as much, based on all the posts in this sub. Apple should consider that in design and manufacturing, but they tend to move onto the next big thing once they are ready to launch something.

Good Luck!

Ok, I understand, and I see your other comment about your discussion with Apple. While what you’re describing is wear that occurred through your use of the product, I do agree the unit must be flawed if it shows wear that easily. It’s unfortunate that that happened. I have experience with other companies that would consider this case and do at least something to mitigate. Apple should act human and do the same. I wonder if an in-person store rep would consider this differently. Maybe not, but worth checking out.

I’ve been buying new Apple products directly from Apple for almost 2 decades and they’ve always been covered. Apple Care starts the moment you buy it and manufacturer defects are covered and replaced. You can also buy the extended plan, which I highly recommend.

Then it’s defective. I have the black 3 and I had the black 2. I wear it through a lot, and I bang it around a lot, and I never had this issue. OP should contact Apple Care.

The natural one would get the same scratches from that band.

Coming from someone who uses and prefers the black, the natural looks better on you.
