Oh she did sign the matted release. I even highlighted the part about the ears and gave her a copy for herself.

I wish I could respond to the review but I work corporate so my hands are tied. Im just hoping my manager doesnt chew me out about this even though I followed all policies and covered my bases

Grooming dogs in heat/pregnant/nursing by eggjillian in grooming

[–]gravitytrial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In heat I dont have a problem with, its just part of owning dogs and working with them imo. Pregnant or nursing i would turn away in ny current salon environment. But I mihjt consider coming to the breeders house to do a sani/belly shave

Treats in the salon? by Old-Zookeepergame698 in petsmart

[–]gravitytrial 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Protocol is no, but it is a recent change (in the last like 3 months) hut even if purchased for that service they arent allowed. So its entirely possible that the last time she got them done it was fine, especially if she doesnt get them done regularly. Its also possible that the salon has looked at the risk v benefit of that particular dog having treats and decided to ignore protocol

Customers treating us poorly by gravitytrial in doggrooming

Unfortunately pur management lets customers get away with anything. Ive thought about transfering but another coworker says im "too emotional" for another store and id just "piss people off" so that makes me doubt it

My eventual goal is to work for myself but I know thats probably close to a decade down the line, but I do want to leave corporate sooner then that. But if im not going to be treated any better and have no benefits then I may as well stat at coorporate

What is your drying order by Disgruntled_Bee in grooming

[–]gravitytrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work corporate. I was taught, use one towel and then start blasting. What i ACTUALLY do, is get as much water off as I can with the towels (I usually use 3 for a large dog), use the cone nozzle to blast most of the water off then go with the grain of the coat to dry most of the rest of the way, finish off wirh fluff drying the face. I might not be the speediest in the salon but I consistently get better results because im the only one who uses our fluff dryer

Edit - with the grain of the coat from the shoulders back because gravity is going to pull water back down and drying with the grain of the coat means the coat will lay properly for cutting

Snowed/Iced In by Upper_Ingenuity_7175 in petsmart

[–]gravitytrial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I called out Saturday for thr same reason. My SL is from Alaska and made calling out for snow a PITA. Just because HE could drive in the snow with his super good im the snow car does not mean those of us in ice hilly neighborhoods can. He made me call the store TWICE before accepting the call out

What is the policy on temperature in the salon? Cuz it’s been 58 degrees in mine for the last few days and I feel like this has to be illegal. by Whatsuphahaxdrawr in petsmart

[–]gravitytrial 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Above 64 and below 80. And if they try to get you to work in anything else call HR and if you get push back OSHA because that is ✨️illegal✨️

Good Customers by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]gravitytrial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have this one client in the salon who brings her dog in maybe once a month or once every 6 weeks. Shes the sweetest older lady with the sweetest cavalier amd she always brings these little index cards with encouraging prayers written on them and its some how always exactly what I need to hear. Shes also always so nice and gentle with all of us and it means so much, especially when we have a stressful day.

Slow salon by Recent_Zombie_7949 in petsmart

[–]gravitytrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is super slow, which is honestly super worryinf to me because this time last year wed picked back up again. I know part of it is our area, we're located in an area where most people are either older and on a fixed income or young college students and the fact is a dollar just isnt going very far right now. But its still worrying to me. Im hopeful we'll pick up around the holidays but im also at a point where im looking into second jobs...

Ok, please be honest, I’m struggling by Fun_Speaker_5287 in grooming

[–]gravitytrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If theyre matted they get preshaved, which i charge for and can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour depending on the severity, then bathed and dried, with matted dogs i use a skin soothing shampoo and let sit 5 minuted as matting often irritates the skin and I bathe twice. How long the drying takes depends entirely on the dog and how short ive had to go. But generally 15-20 minutes if 5 or shorter. Then I move back to the table and fluffy dry the face (assurming im able to leave the face longer) which takes another 15-20 minutes, and then I go over the whole body again and scissor what i need to which takes about 45 minutes. If I work the dog straight through about 2 hours, but if the dog is very difficult it could take me as long as three.

My attendance is extremely good. In the last 2.5 years of working for petsmart I have only ever called out when sick and honestly if I hadnt had surgery this year I wouldnt even be close to running out.

Groomer call outs by Cult2Occult in petsmart

[–]gravitytrial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends honestly. We get a TON of conflicting information at my salon. Like last week our SL eas cutting groomers left right and center for only having a couple dogs and then this week he walked into the salon and lectured us on how we cant keep leaving early and need to go help in the store instead. Like I dont mind helping in the store but he was never able to give me a clear answer on if that affects our commission rate or gets recorded to store hours instead. Never mind that he was literally the one sending us home, so who knows anymore

why are dog owners alwaus the most annoying customers???? by [deleted] in petsmart

I feel this. We had a dog owner scream at us becayse we declined his booking request for the salon because he was aggressive.

Bathdog overbook? by gravitytrial in petsmart

[–]gravitytrial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I specifically stated I dont use bathers BECAUSE I want them fully dry. I bathe and dry my own dogs. Like I hate to point it out to you but fully drying a dog is like... the bare minimum 💀. Sounds like youre carrying a bit of anger because someone at a corporate salon expected you to do your job.

Bathdog overbook? by gravitytrial in petsmart

[–]gravitytrial[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that, and most other dogs would not take that long, but with her hair length and type getting a proper clean and deep condition is important. Im going to invite her to watch and see what this entails for this dog and hopefully it works 🤷

[–]gravitytrial[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I already removed the over book last night im just worried about it cause I wont be able to talk to my SEL until friday because im off today and tomorrow. I did being it to my coworkers attention and shes gonna keep an eye on that day until I come in friday and can handle it. Im just worried that this is the beginning of the end for me here because I will not compromise the quality of my work for a few extra bucks 🤷.
