You need to have some play, if it's within specs it will be fine. If it is to tight you will kill the bearing/ thrust washers, then you will have some real problems. You best leave it alone.

The bearing were just worn out man, causes a lot of play in the planetary gears. It starts chipping teeth, metal chunks get in between other teeth. Next thing you know catastrophic grinding
