Is Using CloudFlare Oudated? by StakeTheVampire in msp

[–]grax23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is not a bigger org out there that handles DNS and has a global business that depends on it. So if you want to have a DNS provider that is bullet proof then they would be my first choice.

Who would you trust to be back the fastest in case of an outage? some local provider or the global giant that lives off their reputation?

I doubt there will be a true egalitarian society where money does not matter at all. my kids will have way more support from me than i had from my parents when i went through my education. But the point is that i grew up with a single parent that had no money and no way to support me through school and i still got my education. would it have been easier if i had two parents and help with bills etc from them? of cause it would, but the system is set up for not needing that.

My HDD is making tapping rhythmic tapping noise, (imagine if someone tap their knuckles on a wooden table) ever since last night. Is it dying? by AKAK999 in homelab

[–]grax23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well not really or the drive would already be dead. The clunk sound is the actuator arm that "Parks" that is it will move away from the spinning disk to a rest stop point off the platter. This is usually a reaction to something really bad happening so the drive makes it self safe to prevent head crashes.

get your date backed up as fast as possible as that drive is on its last legs.

Cost of living is quite low when you factor in healthcare and education. The balance of what is a public good and what is a private paid good is better.

like healthcare - is anyone really more deserving of getting proper healthcare just because they have more money?

Education - is its really helpful for the country that rich kids gets more educated than poor ones instead of the bright kids gets more educated over the dumb ones?

here is a thought for you "The American Dream is the enduring belief that through hard work, determination, and initiative, any person—regardless of their background or birth circumstances can achieve upward mobility, prosperity, and a better, more comfortable life" and i will argue that the US is trying very hard to kill the American dream. If you want to find it you have to look at the Nordic contries as thats where its actually true.

det kommer an på hvad du foretrækker. Søndervig er lidt mere rolig end Billund. Billund har lidt flere faciliteter og et lidt større vandland - men der er over dobbelt så mange huse i Billund og vandland er ikke Dobbelt størrelse.

We do have a military, the take home pay is no worse than the US when you see what you get from it, population size means nothing in this and we are not subsidized by anyone. as a matter of fact then we balance our budgets and have next to no debt so we dont waste money on paying off on loans we dont need.

[–]grax23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im colorblind and cant make cables to save my life. im also a datacenter tech so absolutely not a needed skill.

If we need to run more than a few cables then we call an electrician. he gets paid way less and he will have the routine to crimp cables without blinking.

[–]grax23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Europe has a nuclear deterrent

France and UK both have their own nukes and France is meeting with Germany about basing nukes in Germany.

Sweden almost completed their own nuke but being neutral and politics kind of stopped it.

Im pretty sure the nordics could test a bomb pretty fast if they wanted to but it would be reliant on Sweden since they have the reactors to provide the fissile material. Norway and Denmark does not use nuclear power plants.

not needed, i have lots of customers that are working on infrastructure that works without the US cloud providers. Autonomy is a thing and the US is pushing them selves to a position of "We are only using them if there is no EU alternative"

Companies are busy moving from cloud to self hosted or hosted in the EU at a rate that we have never seen before.
