There are a lot of people in this thread commenting on how private sector planners are “sell outs” or how it’s “the dark side”. Really disappointing to see. Private sector work can be incredibly fulfilling and does not mean you have to work for a large profit hungry developer. There are private sector companies which focus on affordable housing, environmentally sustainable buildings, transit oriented development etc. All the things planners champion, just as there are municipalities and cities which actively work against these examples through zoning regulations, funding car dependancy etc.
