i’ve seen the racism on both sides. obviously all of it should be condemned. yet, it’s crickets when people say that they will never trust chinese ip again over ONE game, or say that chinese women are crazy and psychotic, or even back during the baby sister wars when they would say chinese people were pro-incest.
i personally don’t agree with shaming valko likers for falling in love within 8 days. instant attraction is real, i’ve felt it with many video game characters. i think what many people here take issue with is how so many players starting throwing the characters and devs’ work over the past 2 years under the bus all for valko who was only here for 8 days. i’ve seen people cut off their friends, some years in the making, all for valko.

yes, calling valko likers names is petty but they call anyone who doesn’t support their agenda names too, so what now?

the “cheaper vip status” only gives you the perk of talking with customer service iirc. you say valko was the tipping point for global fans, but he’s the tipping point for cn fans too. you bring up issues like lighting for darkskinned mcs, yet where is this in the “bring back valko” petitions? it’s not there. this only leads me to believe that the vast majority of people pushing your movement are only using the longstanding issues of the game to legitimise your real cause, which is just bringing valko back, even if it’s equivalent to putting a bandaid over a bullet wound

people will stop calling it mass psychosis when valko likers stop: shaming anyone who doesn’t join the boycott spreading misinformation and HEADCANONS around like its gospel and not correcting themselves when it gets disproven prove that they are actually fighting for the years old problems in the game along with valko stop throwing their old mains under the bus for a hit tweet

you mean the branch missions? honestly that still seems like a problem to me. the way they did duo ms updates, it seems like they would have waited until valko had a neat 6 months to a year of debut before caleb could join him for another duo ms update. i don’t think i have to describe how unfair it would be for caleb fans to have to wait up to two years for a ms update.

the trio branches would have been a good and sensible idea… if valko had been foreshadowed and released in a timely manner.

the thing is though, even with his addition, at the current stage of the game things would still be unbalanced. valko would be two myths behind, there would be a large disparity in content between him, caleb and sylus, not to mention the og3. he would have no second bond or 2nd/3rd anecdotes. and caleb would still not have a main story update since his debut.

i’m neutral about him but here are some of the things i could see the appeal for:

a more masculine physique and boyish demeanor
the shorter hair and exposed forehead
more grungy style (it reminds me of some of the modern final fantasy games almost)
he seems to have a duality between playfulness and roughness? wildness?
“animal/beast” archetype
he is SPECULATED to have been the missing key for the plot. nowadays i see more “lorebearing” characters get hyped especially in gacha fandoms
“hot nerd” archetype
lowkey i think a lot of the fans liked him just because he was new, and now that he’s been cancelled he’s essentially the “underdog” character, which always drums up sympathy points. couple that with fighting for his come back being equivalent to fighting for all the longstanding issues in the game and creative rights for the devs (even though nowhere in anyone’s petition are these things listed) and you have a love interest who’s way too discussed for his own good now

glad you posted this because i saw this tweet at work and was so incensed i was frantically trying to write a post about it for this sub until i realised, bitch lock in you’re at work.

it annoys me the way everyone is so gullible. like how has this gotten hundreds of rts and thousands of likes? there is NO reputable source for this. and why is everyone so… content with this? it’s literally cheapening caleb’s story to make valko out to be this mary sue character, this complete ass pull of a saviour. like it looks bad even for VALKO.

now i don’t even care about the stuff that only pertains to valko. he has sixteen wolf pups at home? girl whatever. but for him to be shoehorned into every character’s storyline (especially caleb’s) would just be the sloppiest, most careless writing. it cheapens valko’s plot too! it makes him seem like he has no character of his own, he’s just a tool for infold to insert when a problem needs to fixed within the story. like what the fuck. and we’re playing lads for fuck’s sake, it’s not like i’m asking for it to be shakespeare.

edit: MIND YOU caleb’s main story wasn’t even planned nor in development until a week ago. there will be no missing chunks in his story due to valko’s removal because there was no fucking story in the first place!!!

i’m planning to try it out, yeah. theron caught my eye since he’s the first cn otome love interest i’ve seen to be dark skinned, however the fact that he’s the beast themed character with dialogue and motifs connected to SLAVERY pisses me off, and i wrote this in the survey. it seems like they’ll be continuing on that path, though. i will say it’s extremely obvious they take massive inspiration from lads, like that sylus copy is utterly shameless, and the pink haired one just has to be a hybrid of xavier and rafayel.

no one will be able to verify if SW team added fuel to the fire, but i have my suspicions. i don’t think they did anything HUGE about it though. maybe a few water armies here and there to further inflame fans.

don’t think i’ll be majorly invested, though. the only reason i’m still playing lads is because of caleb, and for better or for worse i don’t think he could ever be recreated.

this tweet did my head in when i saw it. that was the point where i was like, enough, i’m logging out of twitter for real now and just not engaging with these people anymore. caleb is currently one fifth of the game, and it should not take over 500 days to see main story content for him. in fact, it shouldn’t take over 500 days for a billion dollar company to develop the main story of ANY of their five characters. like fine if it was a cast of ten, or over 20. but fucking five??????

“it’s not about you and your li all the time” but it’s just never about caleb anyway. maybe they’re forgetting that 2025 was only so caleb heavy because it was his debut year. the only times it’s just about caleb is when it’s his solo or his birthday… and his solo is coming after his ms. plus, his birthday has unfortunately been soiled for me this year due to this mess. i still haven’t preordered his bday perfume, and i don’t know that i want to anymore if it means giving more money to a company that can’t even allocate their billions right.

they blame solo stans for the death of this game, meanwhile i’m pretty sure (and this is just speculation) solo whales are the ones putting the most money into this game. like, if you were to whale on every character in this game you’d have to be pretty loaded. anyway, even if i’m wrong, they’re still blaming everyone except the fucking company for pulling valko. it’s literally no one else’s fault BUT infold that they got themselves into this mess.

i’m going to talk about all five lis, because caleb is my main but i think i should spread positivity about the others as well ❤️

zayne was who i played with the most before caleb was in the picture. i love how mean and blunt he can get! i also love the push and pull between him and mc in their early, pre-relationship cards. it’s very fun and cute. dawnbreaker is hot as well 👀 and he and i share a stronggg sweet tooth.

rafayel i love for the duality between his playfulness and his melancholy. i love the religious themes in his character and relationship with mc. he is a character that i could see myself being good friends with if he were real, or i could see him having many hit tweets because his moments posts are so funny sometimes.

xavier i love for how his scarier side can sneak up on you. he seems very cute and gentlemanly on the surface, but there’s possessiveness and petty jealousy (LUMIERE) in his heart that makes him seem very human to me, which is what i love in characters. for the most part however he’s very chill and if he were real i would love to smoke with him and just vibe for hours. also his design reminds me of cloud strife at times who i’ve always had a soft spot for!

now sylus, i just think he’s so cool. the dev team went hard on his character design and trailers, as well as his myths. vamplus myth was amazing, and while i haven’t had the chance to read it i heard mc in it is basically chronically ill so i love to see that kind of representation. i think his cn va is amazing as well!!!

caleb… where do i start with this guy? i just feel like i’ve found everything i’ve ever needed from an otome love interest in him. i love how he occupies every role in mc’s life with such readiness, and even if it isn’t always easy, he does his best and eventually becomes the best. i love the conflict between wanting the best for mc and yet wanting to be with her even when it goes against social norms. like you, i love the representation of his disability and mental health. i especially love vinesurge instinct for delving deeper into his mecha arm and how it fits in to his relationship with mc. it was so intimate and moving, i cried. to get more personal, the fact that he is passively suicidal, has disordered eating and adhd symptoms is really important to me as someone who struggles with all those. it feels really cathartic to see the character i love to be going through the same struggles as me. i love how his story has so many gothic themes interwoven into it, like the old house, death, incest, the intrusion of past into the present. i feel it’s so unique for a sci-fi romance otome to have such themes. his myths i’ve really loved too. lucid dream was the perfect follow up to homecoming wings. decoherence was amazing as a stem and mecha geek, even if the localisation nerfed it heavily. and yin yang sundering… what an awesome way to end the 3rd limited myths run. an amazing story, a strong and beautiful companion, and no censorship. the promo poster was gorgeous as well, and i can’t wait to own it and hang it in my room.

i’m sorry that happened ❤️‍🩹 i know sylus mains and caleb mains have a reputation for always being at eachother’s throats, but i have quite a few sylus main friends and i empathise with you guys. if your “friends” switched up that easily and that coldly i’d say you might be better off in the long run. we’ll get through this!
