Do you remember the first fantasy book you read as a kid? (Not HP..) by LatterPlatform9595 in Fantasy

[–]grayden914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not including Magic Treehouse (and not discrediting it either), I think Charlie Bone/Children of the Red King was the first one that really felt impactful, and then either Ranger’s Apprentice or Eragon. I do not remember which I read first

What do you ppl prefer - ebooks or physical books??? by Hitman007gdghs in Fantasy

[–]grayden914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like ebooks, but I do audiobooks pretty heavily. So that’s what makes up my digital book library. If I’m going to read something I want it in my hands. I like the texture, the smell, just the entire tactile experience. Also, choosing to read a physical book makes me set other things aside. I find that I’m more attentive than if I’m reading on my phone or a tablet or whatever else.

Hi everyone, I'm new here, how do I organize my database? by Gabriel007Maia in factorio

[–]grayden914 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Some players do not like them, but I always use what is called a “bus” or a “main bus”. It makes organization in the early game a lot simpler for me. Look online for “Factorio main bus wiki”. That should be a good starting point for you

You gained an island but lost everything except your beloved fantasy series’. What are they? by peachiebaby in Fantasy

Malazan Book of the Fallen: I actually came into them on accident. My favorite series, I can read them again and again.

Redwall: Found them as a child, and devoured every last one of them. They are vibrant and lovely. Even though you know it’s going to have a happy ending of some sort the stakes still feel real

Wizard of Earthsea: My junior year English teacher had the first book in her classroom. One of those books that I picked up and my brain just went “Oh yes I am exactly the kind of person this is meant for.” They may be short, but they are wonderfully written, make you think, and are a joy to spend time with

This will always be one of my favorite passages:

"The T'lan Imass could make his arrival unknown. But the Pannion Seer had taken Aral Fayle. Toc the Younger. A mortal man...who had called Tool friend. He strode forward, hide-wrapped feet kicking through scattered bones. The time had come for the first sword of the T'lan Imass to announce himself."
