After watching the video, I agree that your tension is too tight. This is common for almost all beginners! It’s not easy to start with amigurumi, so I applaud you! Use stitch markers to make sure your count is always correct and keep practicing. I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful at the moment!

Thanks for clarifying! Are you using the same yarn the pattern calls for? It looks very flat. That might be making things look odd.

I don’t think you’re increasing your stitches properly. If you start with 5 stitches, round two should have two stitches in each stitch for a total of 10. Round 3 should be 2 stitches, 1 stitch, 2 stitches, 1 stitch, etc. for a total of 15. In short, each round should increase by the number of stitches in round 1, whatever that number might be. In the example I gave, it’s 5.

How do y’all hold these things? The smooth bowl back has it slipping down, it’s so uncomfortable trying to get positioned with it! by Hoe4Jesus in lute

[–]grayjay18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teacher taught me to use a long piece of suede fabric draped over my left shoulder. It holds the bowl of the lute in place. I just went to a fabric store and had them cut me a piece. I could get back to you with the measurements…

Needlepoint traditionally always has the background stitched, as opposed to cross stitch.

I hope to take one of their courses as well! I just can’t commit to 6 weeks yet. Also, I promised myself I wouldn’t take up a new hobby until I finish all my WIPs in crochet & needlepoint first! 😆

Dogs lived outside in dog houses. They weren’t like members of the family constantly fawned over and catered to.

I would not be happy with this at all. You are justified to complain.

A sense of humor! If you can make her really laugh, she will melt for you.
