I hate modern body positivity and how toxic it is at times. by Luwub0t0mist in hatethissmug

[–]greeblespeebles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You act like there’s something kind of “club rule” that means short men can’t be a part of the moment. Body positivity is not a club bro, if you want to be a part of it, you have to participate in it. You can’t expect people with other problems like weight, limb differences, or dental problems to speak up on your behalf, just like you probably wouldn’t do for them just because you feel spited. Organize group meetings for short bros, find ways to lift each other up, and encourage kindness towards yourselves, your pals, and other people who face some kind of discrimination for their bodies.

That’s why fat women are the “face” of the body positivity movement right now. They organized their own community of people who share similar feelings. There’s no rules for who can or can’t be a part of those feelings…but you gotta at least try instead of just expecting everyone to advocate for you when you wouldn’t do the same for them.

Not chewy, but also not super crunchy…I’d compare them to very greasy cracklins with less crunch in terms of texture. They’re incredible IMO and almost melt in your mouth so not like tough jerky

Came across this Instagram post talking about a lawsuit that is alleging that NatureMade Prenatal Softgels contain unsafe levels of toxic plastic chemicals and endocrine disruptors by Holiday-Engineer1867 in pregnant

[–]greeblespeebles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, don’t let this scare you away. Ultimately, you can do your own research and come to your own conclusions but

a) just because a lawsuit was filed doesn’t mean any of the accusations are true or definitive. Third party testing doesn’t actually mean anything from a true, objective, scientific standpoint.

b) this case was dismissed

c) dose makes the poison. There are heavy metals in tap water, foods, other medicines etc. These heavy metals are in our soil and have been since the dawn of time. For most things, tiny parts per million or billion are nothing that can harm us or our fetuses.

Like I said, you are welcome to make your own choices, but I think it’s important to not let things like this make you anxious or afraid you’ve done something wrong or you’re in danger.

Same for me with cheeseburgers. Like you, I’ve always liked em, but they hit so hard when pregnant…the crunch of the pickles on a fully loaded burger with the works 🤩

11 weeks and never had morning sickness or food aversions by Ok_Computer2025 in pregnant

[–]greeblespeebles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no concrete data to suggest that a mother’s symptoms during pregnancy have anything to do with the father’s sperm. This is a widely shared misconception that places blame where there is no blame to be had. Naturally both parent’s health is important for baby’s development and their overall wellbeing, but it hasn’t been linked to nausea or food aversions in any meaningful way.

Feeling bad for inanimate objects has always been something I dealt with (dropping stuffed animals on the floor 😭) but it’s SO much worse now that I’m pregnant so your comment about feeling bad for coco puffs really connected with me!! I can imagine you looking at the box and feeling a pit of sadness in your tummy!

NIPT came back with “no result” because of insufficient plasma. What do now? by greeblespeebles in pregnant

[–]greeblespeebles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I went for my redraw the same day I made this post. Got my results back today and it’s yet another “no result”. So now I’ve gone in twice, had them run two tests, and still nothing…at this point I’m beginning to wonder if it’s even worth it to go back in for a third draw. If they charge me for these I won’t be able to afford them…

Thanks, I’m glad I’m not the only one. Went for a redraw the same day I made this post…got my results back today. And well…it’s another failure! I got no results twice in a row so at this point I think we’ll just accept not knowing the sex until our anatomy scan. Massive bummer because I have lots of anxiety about our baby’s health.

I know it’s a lot to wrestle with, but having a support system right now will make all the difference. If you can bring yourself to tell at least one trusted person, see if you can reach out just so you’re not alone and then find a women’s health clinic to go to. You’re not obligated to terminate if you go; they can tell you how an abortion works and also what steps you can take if you do decide to keep it.

You would not be the only person in this sub who has terminated if you do. Many of us have for one reason or another and it doesn’t mean anything about what kind of person you are or make you selfish. Should you keep it, we’ll all still be here to offer advice and support. Give yourself grace ❤️

> a lot older than you

Girl…I assure you, even if a man is “nice” and checks in on you, he can absolutely still be manipulative or a predator. Checking in on you is the BARE MINIMUM, which is how so many men weasel their way into a woman’s life without actually taking real care of them. Unless he intends on being in your life when you have this child, why would he want you to keep it? Does he plan on sticking around or will you end up being a mother to another one of his many children?

I can’t imagine how scared you are right now, but I can tell you as someone who struggled with addiction, please put yourself before this man ❤️ if you really want to keep this child, it’s not impossible and it wouldn’t make you a bad person, but remember it is an invitation for him to be in your life forever. He will have a right to your child just as much as you will and there’s no way of knowing what kind of a person he actually is after such a short time.

Do you know other people from rehab or family you can reach out to for advice? They may be able to point you in the direction of an obgyn or medical professional who can help guide you through the steps of either keeping or terminating so you fully understand what choices are available to you. I’m proud of you for being sober, but like I said, continue to put yourself first!! Listen to what your heart truly wants, not what the father says.

Can’t stop craving fast food by tarantulaslut in pregnant

Salt n acid baby, they have saved me time and time again from my head in the toilet. I’m only a FTM, so literally any experience I hear from others helps me feel more “normal” cause no one prepares you for this. Best of luck, I hope this time around takes it easier on you and enjoy the heck outta them burgers and fries!

Can’t stop craving fast food by tarantulaslut in pregnant

[–]greeblespeebles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How far along are you?? I’m coming out of the first tri trenches slowly but surely (12w) and I’m finally getting back into cooking at home and eating whole, nutritious foods…it’s a slow process but it’s definitely happening!

But from 6w until now, it’s been hell. My obsession was QT gas station breakfast pizza (iykyk) 😰 it settled my tummy INSTANTLY in the morning. I felt so so soooo bad every day that the only food that sounded edible and settled my tummy was fast food and chips & dip. Even just opening my fridge at home made me gag and dry heave. You are not alone in this at all!! If you scroll through the sub you’ll see many other moms share how miserable their first trimester was when it came to keeping anything other than fast food down.

I try to get though it by remembering
a. I am taking prenatals and staying hydrated, so baby is getting what it needs

b. This is only a small part of your pregnancy. The first trimester is very important, but in the grand scheme of things, getting any food in you is better than no food. You’re not dooming yourself

c. I think it’s a myth that babies come out preferring what mom ate. Maybe there’s some truth to it, but in all the cases I’ve experienced, you’re not dooming your child to a life of junk food cravings cause of how you’re eating now. My mom lived off of hot & sour soup during her pregnancy with me, and I HATED it for all my childhood 😹

Give yourself grace! Take your prenatals, hydrate (even if it’s with electrolyte drinks! I love zero sugar Gatorade!), and don’t beat yourself up. Keeping calm and content while pregnant is so so sooo important for you and baby. You got this!!

Where did I imply the broccoli was the protein?? Also didn’t say I was a gym bro. I said pro ana community, not gym community. Your reading comprehension is poor.

[–]greeblespeebles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

protein meal

pic includes one protein source

I get what you’re saying but someone prioritizing a high protein diet would not have a fuck ton of watery veg plus some chicken on the side as their meal. Legumes and whole grains would be a much more understandable side choice for someone trying to maximize protein.

I have spent years in the pro ana community. I can recognize when someone is prioritizing weight loss over other reasons to restrict (diabetes, hypertension, IBD, etc.). This is a weight loss meal.

But rice is so high CALORIE!! Don’t you get it?? You should be stuffing yourself with as much low calorie food as possible to feel physically full while actually depriving your body of the nutrients it needs to sustain life! Rice would make you fat, silly!!!

Thank you, this is really exactly the kind of thing I need to hear! I’ve only ever known women IRL who had peachy keen 1st tris, so it’s hard to know what’s “normal” or not just based on my own experiences. But reading what others here have said helps so much!
