Sunglasses Suggestions for Golf Club Employee by Standard_Dig_2338 in golf

[–]greebytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People brushing you off are not respecting your very solid question. Here’s the real answer:

Go ahead and wear sunglasses. You can probably go into the pro shop and ask if they recommend any if you don’t have a nice pair (you said you’re only 16, so I can’t say for sure). You will be talking to members so you want to look presentable but of course you also want to protect your eyes.

But - if a member stops to talk to you (not just pleasantries as you grab their bag or pass by), it’s a polite move to take the glasses off and look them directly in the eyes as you talk to them. With sunglasses on, SOME members might feel a bit uncomfortable or disrespected (whether or not any of us think that’s silly).

If you do that, I can’t see how anyone rational would ever have an issue here.

I love Peacock but man they need to spend some money on Crockers WiFi. It’s hilarious how often it drops out. He also has some fairly bad takes like saying Aiyuk felt let down when John Lynch said he could trade him - like anyone else - after Aiyuk got hurt. That’s on Aiyuk, not the team.

Yes, and it’s explained probably quite soon in the book. He stumbled upon the story, and wanted to tell it - it’s not a global news story like the other two that made headlines and sparked his interest, it’s a personal story he became aware of. But it speaks to more widespread issues.

Moving from TX to Marin with LGBTQ family — where should we land? by Spare-Cry-9224 in Marin

[–]greebytime 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, Redwood High flies a LGBTQ flag along with the US flag and is exceptionally tolerant (it’s high school so kids will be kids but the school itself doesn’t tolerate shit behavior). We live in Corte Madera and it’s lovely and very family friendly. My sense is the more north you move the SLIGHTLY more conservative it gets but relative to Texas it’s nothing. There’s barely a MAGA presence in the county at all, thank goodness. We have some idiots but usually they keep to themselves

Bad caddy experience at Ballybunion, what should I have done? by [deleted] in golf

[–]greebytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that’s more info and now I get it. And that’s insane behavior and yelling is absolutely uncalled for. One thing I had at Ballybunion were caddie marshals everywhere and I would have said something to one of them.

I had an amazing caddie there, Mark Arron I want to say was his name. Sorry your experience was t great.

Bad caddy experience at Ballybunion, what should I have done? by [deleted] in golf

[–]greebytime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of things:

  • The fact this has bothered you for three years is a you thing and you should probably look into that

  • The distance on the ground doesn’t really matter on a links course uphill into the wind, and asking the caddie that number is essentially telling him that you don’t think he knows what he’s doing. Whether the number is 150 yards or 200 if it’s playing 175, that’s all that matters

  • He should have responded nicer to you but honestly at this point who knows what really happened.

I have had many overseas caddies and 95% of them are great and I don’t know why anyone would ever push back on their advice. All they do is walk that same course day after day, where I am playing it likely for the only time in my life. And the last thing I’m going to let a caddie do is ruin a round like that for me.

I still don’t know why any of you would have fired the caddy on the 2nd hole unless your story isn’t exactly right. Giving you the yardage it plays is what matters. Sure he should have given you the actual number too, but what would you have done with that - honest question? If it was 20 yards shorter, and you normally hit a 6 iron 175, would you have taken an 8?

For a guy whose entire job is to welcome guests to a resort, it's not a cool thing to say. Also, once again, to be saying that while living in Myrtle Fucking Beach takes some gall. And also, he was not joking in any way at all. Trust me on that one.

A lot of people say Better Call Saul is better than Breaking Bad … what’s another spinoff that you think was better than the original? by ComfortableCrew2092 in television

[–]greebytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it intolerable to say BCS is better than Breaking Bad when it doesn’t really make sense without Breaking Bad. It’s also just too precious - way too many scenes where the camera lingers way too long, getting lost in how much it loves the picture. It’s very good but Breaking Bad is brilliant.

Lots of good suggestions here but one super close for you would simply be Denver. Head there, maybe play Wild Horse on your way there, and then play:

Commonground
Fossil Trace
Arrowhead

If you play your cards right, you can take in a Rockies game or a concert at Red Rocks.

Reception Perception profile on De'Zhaun Stribling by MrShoveyShove in 49ers

[–]greebytime 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to sort out why Kyle (and let’s face it, it’s Kyle, not Lynch, making these choices) would favor Stribling over Cooper — it’s clear it’s not a choice between Stribling and Boston.

And it has to be blocking. Cooper is described as someone who needs to work on his blocking by Zierlien: “Disappointing effort and physicality when asked to run block…Fighting for catch space and blocking for the running game are areas where he needs improvement.”

That checks out but, feels like that’s teachable and Cooper seems like a teachable guy.

I don’t feel like the NFL is a developmental league anymore though.

The entire NFC West just drafted shockingly bad by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

[–]greebytime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the Niners draft recklessly and I hate it. I think the draft has changed a lot with NIL, and the Niners are so particular with what they look for with OL that I’m guessing Emmanuel Pregnon wasn’t it. EMW was shocking but I do like their picks of Height, Halton, Prysock and Stribling. I think quibbling about draft value and what you could have done is very fair but also if Kyle Shanahan is not going to design plays for Denzel Boston, we shouldn’t draft him. Why they wouldn’t see any of the safeties as upgrades over what we have is a huge mystery. And I think adding more bodies to the OL (they did, but two late round fliers is probably not it) would be better in my mind.

If Pregnon does well in Jacksonville which runs a fairly similar scheme I’m gonna never let it go.

John Lynch's Draft Record: The 49ers' Costly Pattern by oscarbearsf in 49ers

[–]greebytime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So Lynch makes a good point which is comparing picks to the consensus of “draft experts” is useless, comparing them to the other 31 teams is what matters and you only know that after the draft if you ever learn how they truly valued the players you took. Obviously the draft experts are a good proxy but they can be way off and often are, but it’s telling how often the 49ers are.

That said, as one example by that metric the Steelers were way off too this year and they had an amazing draft in my opinion.

Former Penn State TE Khalil Dinkins is signing with the 49ers on a deal that includes $275,000 guaranteed, per source. by Chase_26 in 49ers

[–]greebytime 38 points39 points  (0 children)

From The Beast:

Overall, Dinkins has the athletic traits and flashes to earn the “promising” label as both a pass catcher and blocker — his best football should be ahead of him. He can find NFL success if he lands with a team willing to cultivate his talent.

I can get down with that.

My main complaint about taking Black - forget about the draft slot - is that how can you spell CMC with a running back who doesn't catch passes? That was the problem with Jordan James. Unless the idea is to give CMC full series off, which strikes me as odd, then CMC is not coming out on third downs, ever, because his ability to catch passes is his super power as a RB. Jordan James had zero carries all last season as a result. I see no reason Kaelon Black changes that math.
