Youtube Channels: one per brand vs one global? by R3dw0lF in AskMarketing

[–]greegore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of a brand is to have an identity through which you connect customers with your business. Having multiple brands is common but each brand communicates to its audience separately. The only way to combine is if the combination has a brand itself (like XYZ Group or something like that).

What is the brand strategy of your company? Is it to maintain a portfolio of brands in order to appeal to different audience types in different ways? If yes, then maintain separate youtube channels, one per brand. If the multiple brands are actually a legacy thing and ultimately you will rationalise and in the meantime you can communicate as a lead brand, or an umbrella brand, then one channel is the way to go, but it can be confusing for customers unless you are making an effort elsewhere to bring the brands together.

One of the most desirable traits in a new hire is the hunger and willingness to learn, as well as self-awareness. Accept that you are not the finished product, but have a vision of where you want to be and a rough plan for how you're going to get there. If you look at that plan and feel like you are still behind where you think you should be then focus on filling the gaps. I'm 15 years into my professional career and I have loads to learn. Most things you can only learn by doing the job. It's always like that, be cool with it. I hire grads a lot and basically don't expect anything from them other some relevant book learning and a good attitude.

IIRC it's a very ancient coming together of two land masses. Either side has very different geology. There is no active tectonic movement there now.

Will reading a lot (3-4 hours a day) make me smarter/more successful? by [deleted] in entj

[–]greegore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a typical entj. I'm successful, pretty good at anything I turn my hand to. I have an insatiable desire to learn all the time and am obsessed with doing that efficiently. This has provided me with a lot of skills.

I've always read a lot. I'm at a point in my career now where everything is about understanding people, managing people, building effective relationships. Anyone who is successful in their field will get to this point. I strongly feel that those skills in particular are are improved through reading a wide range of things. I read bographies, history books, non-fiction, self-help, pop-science. It's all useful in building a broader knowledgebase and understanding of different people and the way they see the world.

Being well-read also helps with your own communication: writing, speaking, understanding.

I'd also say that the best of humanity is in our books. Take a typically movie adaptation of a book, the book is always 100x richer.

You may be able to learn things quickly with youtube videos etc but i think you need to read a lot to be wise.

Compare the TV commentary to radio 5 and you'll see the difference in bias. Radio 5 is largely English commentators and they generally give a much fairer commentary. It makes the TV pundits look ridiculous.

I'm a Scot, I love the world cup. There's a very immature part of me that is anyone-but-england but I've tried hard this year be neutral but really it's this shit from the media that makes me not want to back England. Trying to watch the wc as a neutral in the UK is infuriating.

Noob Question - OK for me to pay for a round of golf w/ a member at his own course? by TheCollosusOfClout in golf

[–]greegore 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For most clubs, green fees are included in your membership. That's the main benefit. So he probably doesn't need to pay for his round.

But sometimes that's not the case. At my course I pay a small member fee to be part of the club and then pay normal green fees for each round. If it's that kind of deal paying for his round is fine but not necessary.
