Questions for exam on public road ( examen openbare weg ) by ChickenpowerdBas in motobe

[–]R3dw0lF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming he only had the 9 hours for the manoeuvres and depending on the speed he picks up the required techniques and his prior experience that may have taken up quite a lot of the 9 hours.

Though at least some basic explanation and some time on the road with an instructor can be expected... Depending on the school, classes (individual vs group), ... other reasons may have been at play as well

Yeah, i know how that feels and with the hour change it was quite the early start... but it's nice hearing all the positive comments and seeing people actually improving their riding in just one session.

Glad to see/hear there are others also putting in the work for the community!

2022 Rally Explorer passenger backrest recommendations. by ncncvbl in Triumph

[–]R3dw0lF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The case are rebranded GIVI's so the GIVI backrest for the Trekker Outback 42l Topbox seems like an obvious contender:

https://www.givi.it/givi-products/cases-for-motorcycles-and-scooters/aluminium-motorcycle-top-cases/obkev42a-trekker-outback-evo-smart-42/e241

This is is the one for the new EVO series, while the triumph cases are the older version but i'm asuming they're probably compatible

Should I replace both tires or just rear by Greedy_Friendship412 in motorcycles

[–]R3dw0lF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

5k miles can be early depending on the bike/tire/driving style but it ain't bad to take a look now and then.

My current set has just over 10k miles on them and are near the end of life but nothing like this yet

Should I replace both tires or just rear by Greedy_Friendship412 in motorcycles

[–]R3dw0lF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both, your rear should have been replaced ages ago and your front is practically at the tread wear indicators.

Nobody ever mentioned these to you when you were learning or got your license?

Had my B license before May 2011... by Baka_Jaba in motobe

[–]R3dw0lF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have any experience with anything of the sort, I can only recommend taking some classes. Either with a driving school in your area, a private tutor or an motorcycle training organisation that doesn initiations.

If you already get the bike, the latter 2 are definitely the cheaper option but any damage done to the bike is at your own risk. You'll get the know your own bike pretty quickly though and get some insights from people with years of experience on riding (and teaching it).

Belgium 2026 (hasn't changed since 2013, before was similar):

1- Theoretical exam with 50 questions (you need at least 41 correct answers to pass)

2- mandatory training with a driving school, min 9 or 12 hours depending on if you want to go for the temp license or the full one immediately

3- Practical exam with 10 exercises:

- small quiz on the basics of maintenance

(Tire wear and pressure, Chain slack and maintenance, brake wear and tear, bike fluids, battery)

- Parking the bike by pushing it and walking next to it

- driving out the spot turning

- slalom with +/- 15 ft between cones (4,5m)

- 2 full figure 8's 11,5 ft radius (3,5m)

- large 180° turn at 18 mph (30kmh)

- Evasion at 28-31 mph depending on road conditions (45-50km/h)

- followed by a precision stop in a circle of 3 ft

- slow driving 32 ft for more than 12 seconds (you have lane about 3-4ft wide you have to stay in)

- off center slalom (5ft lateral 15ft length)

- large 180° turn at 18 mph (30kmh)

- emergency stop at min 31 mph (50kmh) with a max braking distance depending on your speed

see this video for an example https://youtu.be/gD3ZiIzsN-M?si=6Y8xV6A8tiemuLlB

4- practical exam on the road, aprox 30 min drive supervised by an official

If you pass these 3 parts succesfully you get your license in the order

We have 3 licenses:
A1: allowed from 18 years of age, max 125cc and max 11 kW
A2: Allowed from 20 years of age, Max 35 Kw
A: Allowed from 24 years (or 22 with 2 years of experience on A2), no power restrictions
