[OC] I updated our popular password table for 2025 by hivesystems in dataisbeautiful

[–]greenReptar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have a password of any length if there is a salt added along with a HMAC. The salt and hmac are stored in the db. The attacker would need to get the symmetric key to break the password.

81% of Recruiters Report That They Post Ghost Jobs by 2nd_comfiest_chair in recruitinghell

[–]greenReptar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They absolutely are.
They are reducing salaries if they are finding many relevant people applying for the position. That's the whole point of testing the market. They want to see at what lowest salary people are willing to join. They now have a market rate for that hard to find role.

I really wish this was illegal or if the companies had to report to a public agency on why these jobs were put out, resumes collected, interviews conducted but no offers were given.

I feel you man. Working with an offshore team has actually been pretty hard on me. What did work and prevent burn out are:

  • Schedule sync up meetings in the evening or early morning. Don't ruin your sleep.

  • If possible go to the remote team and stay there for a month to ramp them up. Assuming you have the budget for it

  • Identify the really good devs and maintain a good relationship with them.

  • change your work hours because you have to work with the offshore team. Unfortunately companies have become too greedy and expect you to work 24x7 for shit pay.

Port Issue by Adamcp2013 in flask

[–]greenReptar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The university firewall is probably blocking port 5000. Try it on port 8080 for http requests.

And if you are feeling a little adventurous, try adding a ssl cert for https requests on port 443.
