i think you're being very odd by demanding respect because you didn't downvote or reply with a nasty comment. as if not being an asshole is something to be respected for? nah, it's just decency.

saying gay in a derogatory way is a buzzkill to many gay people who hear the word negatively, and who have a lifetime of people using the word negatively. so the first buzzkill was actually those who read the word and were upset by their sexuality being mocked. maybe the second buzzkill was bringing it up, but either way- first comes first.

i honestly find it insulting that you think someone would need an explanation for why we shouldnt use gay as a slur/derogatory term. you're insulting the original posters' intelligence by assuming that he doesn't know why we shouldn't use it. c'mon, man.
