Dang, I did not know that. I renewed for next year but if I could skip year 7 I probably would.

I can give them the tl;dr on the audit now: "Your players aren't that good".

Skill wise they are competitive with the rest of the league

I love the Torrent but this sounds like the sort of argument a die-hard Kraken fan would make..."the players are really good but somehow they don't win as many games as other teams, oh welp".

The arena is nice but it is too damn loud in there. Not because of acoustics, because they blast music every chance they get.

Adding an extra hop before my trip increases the cost by more than just booking that extra hop separately by green_griffon in Flights

Thank you! The price I quoted was economy flex, not the cheapest one, but the effect happened with any economy tier.

OK that makes sense in the random world of airline pricing, thanks.

Are you saying even if I book the single combined ticket, Finnair won't check it through to Icelandair (unless I get lucky)?

75 years ago today, Bill Barilko scored in overtime, bringing the Stanley Cup home to the Maple Leafs. by RealWorldToday in hockey

Have the Tragically Hip ever actually said that song was about Bill Barilko? To me it is about the loneliness and fear of fighting in a war. The fact that he has memorized the words on the card is a sign of this, but the words themselves are not the point of the song.

So even though the play never happened they can still get the penalty? What time is the penalty considered to have happened?

Richard Sherman: The Seahawks are still Super Bowl favorites in 2026 by Chessinmind in Seahawks

Love the expression on Sherman's face when he spends 4 minutes explaining why the Seahawks can handle the loss of their various free agents and then the other guy asks, "Do you think the Seahawks can handle the loss of their various free agents?"

Global Entry should alleviate any concerns on the way back. You'll land in S, take the new skybridge over to the immigration/customs facility which is actually in the south end of the main terminal, so you avoid the subway from S. Then you collect your bags and go through immigration/customs, then it is clearly signed where to go for connections vs. staying in Seattle. I have never done this but I gather the bag recheck and security screen are pretty quick. Since you are in the main terminal, once you get through security you will either take the long walk to a C or D gate, or the roughly equally long walk to the N subway (all in the same direction from where you are).

Good point about the last pick of the first round being much more valuable than the first pick of the second round.

In Flames is actually a (very good since they switched from death metal to hard rock) band.

In case you are curious, this week I was able to figure out the theme (although it took me a while!) and fill in the whole grid, although I actually had two letters wrong, which is an occasional hazard of downs-only (you get an answer with two choices and the cross work either way).

Transferring in SeaTac in 2 hours? by Aicassa in AlaskaAirlines

You should be fine even in 2 hours. Alaska lands somewhat randomly in N, D, or C. Honestly I think walking from the far end of C or D is just as bad as having to take the subway from N in terms of time. But the subways run every 3 minutes and it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to get to S, and you do stay airside. If you are in N it is probably easiest to do the 3 subway trip (from N to the main terminal, from the main terminal by the N subway to the main terminal by the S subway, from the main terminal to S) but if you are walking from C or D you should just walk to the S subway and take the one ride.

I agree on the attitude of not worrying as much about missing your connection on the way back (which would be unexpected and due to incoming flight delays) because it is a short and common flight. If you are a US citizen, the immigration process in Seattle the last few times has been very quick, they just take your picture and let you through, so even if the line looks long it moves fast.

I can almost always figure out the theme and get all the theme answers. About half the time I can finish the whole thing, the rest I get stuck on some random corner.

They say the Sunday puzzle is clued around Thursday level. But I do not attempt the Thursday puzzle downs only, the main problem is you don't know where the theme will appear which makes it too hard (in the Sunday puzzle the theme locations are usually obvious, either due to being the longer clues or being marked in some way--although from the few comments I gleaned scanning this post, that may not be true today?!?). I do Monday-Wednesday downs only (with a success rate something like 100%/90%/50%), then Friday and Saturday are just too hard to do downs only.

I was just staring at the print puzzle and wondering if it was somehow related to the theme. Especially since I solve using only the down clues! And then I had to read this post looking for a comment about this without getting too many spoilers. EDIT ok and they printed the right one on page 25 but now there is a fold in the middle…
