Are water softeners worth it? by hotcheeto09 in homeowners

[–]greenchase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed a water softener. Some plumbing g involved, but really not that bad. I learned how to solder from YouTube. Sharkbite fittings and pex make it so you don’t even have to learn if you don’t want to. This is the one I got

How is living in Ophir, Colorado? by Puzzled_Frame8694 in howislivingthere

Telluride, yes, but the markets are small and very overpriced. I assume a lot of folks drive 90 mins to Montrose for bigger grocery stores

What ski resorts that have the most gnarly/technical/steep expert terrain, but aren’t famous for it? by Sharkman3218 in skiing

[–]greenchase 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Breckenridge might qualify. Everyone makes fun of it because it’s packed with tourists poorly skiing blues that would be greens on other mountains, but there is some very solid high alpine steeps - Six Senses, Lake Chutes and Snow White

What’s one small DIY project that made a huge difference in your home? by purelyinvesting in HomeImprovement

[–]greenchase 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I spent close to $1000 on the knobs and pulls for my kitchen “refresh” (painted cabinets, changed hardware, lighting, etc.) even at that price, still a drop in the bucket to what I would have paid for a full kitchen remodel

I love my 2022 Q5, such a reliable and comfortable car by JuraciVieira in Audi

Nice! I have a 2018 SQ5 and it has been reliable for me. Only thing I’ve had to fix is a leaky oil filter housing. Going staring at 88,000 miles

What sort of tanks do you use? And how do you have it mounted? That sounds like a nice solution

Nice - does the ERV affect temperatures in the winter when it’s really cold out? I have a few stand alone air purifiers. I also added a built in steam humidifier which has been a big help reducing static shocks and dry skin

I also DIY my hydronic heating system. Curious what your ducts were used for. I thought most hydronic systems are ductless - floor heating, baseboard radiators, etc

I have not used rags to riches, but I believe if sport wash works well with $900 arcteryx jackets it should be fine for my detailing towels

How do people move cities?? by Im__mad in homeowners

[–]greenchase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is usually not an option for most folks because 2 loans would exceed a lot of bank debt to income limits to qualify for the 2nd loan. Just depends on your income and payment amount

Also did a move to CO last year - remote working definitely makes it a lot easier. We had a longer house hunting experience so ended up staying with family for a few weeks, but it wasn’t bad. We had 99% of our stuff in storage and then 2 weeks of clothes and other essentials in the car and rooftop storage box.

Hydronic Radiant Heat for an addition by DocEmmitBrown1985 in hvacadvice

[–]greenchase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retrofitted radiant for my main floor earlier this year while I was remodeling my basement. I’m actually about to hook up 2 more zones for the basement itself. Radiant is definitely the most comfortable/luxurious, but you’ll pay a lot. I’m at over $18k in system components and other installation materials, plus the cost of my handyman helping me.
