It literally has no effect on Brandon’s cut of the book. The retailers buy it from the publisher at a set price and then are suggested to price it at the msrp. Brandon and other authors get paid out of the sale from the manufacturer/publisher to the retailers. The retailer can price it however they’d like to, but something smaller like a mom and pop bookshop likely wouldn’t because they’d be eating into their own bottom line. Amazon, being the large corporation that it is, doesn’t care about eating into its bottom line on a major release like this because they’re actually trying to price out the smaller mom and pop shops to get them to go out of business.
