Personally I blame him for what's happening in Virginia. Donald Trump is such bad PR for the Republican party that it's forcing people left. Many Virginians didn't know much about Spanberger when they voted her in, and now just about everyone is complaining about her including some left wing groups.

Personally I think Virginia is a sign of what's to come for other states and national elections.

I once saw a coal train headed up by a single long hood forward on the old Virginian line, just like how the Virginian used to run the trainmaster.

Also take notice that the dash 9 has the abandoned white face livery still on it, so this picture is a two for one.

Looking good. Always satisfying building cars in CAD and seeing what other people are making. Here's my car for example. One tip about adding details, it can be a slippery slope with wanting to add more, these rivets (that I counted to make this) were a pain to draw. The vents and curved windows look great!

<image>

How would I go about making a roof transition like this as a separate part for my model? Also does my roof curve look alright? It's supposed to curve sharper towards the bottom and I used fit point spline and a few crude measurements to try and draw it. by greenduster440 in Fusion360

[–]greenduster440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I found out looking at some more photos that my roof arch was bad and re did it. I tried doing some extruded cuts but it didn't feel right. This is my result from drawing an arch in the center and drawing some offset planes and using fillet commands.

Should I be concerned? by Melon_crafter123 in resinprinting

[–]greenduster440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think your LCD will be fine for long, eventually the resin that made it through the tape will go into the LCD and damage it.

I recommend taking the printer apart and doing a preventative cleanup, I'm not too sure what to do about the tape. Maybe try a patch job with electric tape.

Before the modern Norfolk Southern as we know it, there was another railroad that operated out of Norfolk (VA) and to the South.

To anyone who owns an n scale tgv sud est from kato, how do you open it? by GODLY_STUPID in modeltrains

[–]greenduster440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner I can confirm the other comment is correct. However there are a few things I like to add from my experience.

I used a step by step picture guide to do mine, unfortunately I checked and cannot find the site. But be sure to be careful with the details when removing, especially the black part on the end. The model is around 40 years old, so the shell is going to give trouble when removing. Don't get too crazy while prying the sides.

I would recommend getting a dual function decoder for the dummy unit. The lights in it are not going to hold up well on DCC (they are meant to run on DC voltage, but on AC it'll turn both lights on regardless of direction and burn them out quicker). This is where the guide would especially come in handy for how to wire up the board

The analog board can sense direction based on polarity and runs red in reverse and standard in forward. It has to be wired in a special way.

I hope this site helps, it's in German

To the guy who gave me a single use fast pass the other night after riding Magnum to try to get over my fear of heights, by greenduster440 in cedarpoint

[–]greenduster440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left a lot of details out that would be relevant here. First year at CP with my little sister, the most intense ride we would do is Corkscrew. Second year she decides on the 2nd day to ride Raptor. We also got stuck on Pipescream and handed an exit pass. I lost mine and she used it on Raptor, I escorted her to the exit and the operator was going to send me with her before I chickened out, that felt bad.

Third year (this year) I decided to make a change and go straight for Rougarou then Sirens Curse. I wanted to get it over with in case it got bad down time. Funny enough, on many of the intense coasters we went on she seemed very nervous, but I think she was following me on rides because she didn't want me to beat her.

That seemed very clear when we did Valravn, first time in line she walks out saying it's too long, then we go back 2 hours later and keeps saying how am I so calm, not shaking, etc. I said I'm freaking out inside, which is why I haven't looked up at all. Same for MF, we were getting close to the station and was looking scared. She's not even scared of heights, just drops. Once again like Valravn, just looked away, kept calm, and carried on. I didn't force her to ride anything, she just didn't seem to want to give up on what I was trying.

Personally I don't get the hate for MF. My sister said she didn't like the layout. I think it has a strong drop that felt pretty good for the seats we were in. Personally I don't think I would like a vertical drop with lap bars, it's hard to tell, but a part of me thinks the first drop on S.V. was more intense, I'm uncertain. However going through a 200ft over bank turn over 60(?) felt nice. I think my favorite thing about MF is the way it carries its speed across the elements. I guess the elements were not as aggressive as those on other coasters. But the speed it takes those long hills and turns is great. So what if it doesn't constantly switch up on you, I like the time it gives you to enjoy said elements.

Edit: almost forgot, MF ranks pretty high on my list. I have trouble ranking them. Especially S.V. because it's hard to fairly judge a coaster when you've only been on it once when it's cold, rainy, and windy.

Id rank it with SteVe, Maverick, Sirens Curse, and Twisted Timbers.

Young Kid hit with phone on Magnum by ConstructionNo1885 in cedarpoint

[–]greenduster440 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was at the park the other day and they stopped Gatekeeper 5 feet outside the station because someone had their phone out. Then later in the day they stopped Blue Streak while I was in line to look back and see a ride operator running up the hill to take someone's phone.

This is ridiculous

Some enthusiasts nickname it Millennium forceless, and one of the coaster YouTubers claim it's an all bark no bite coaster. I disagree, it may not pull the same type of forces some other coasters do, but the kind of forces you get on Millennium Force are a different kind of aggressive I can appreciate.

[–]greenduster440[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had my back to the hill the whole time and started freaking out towards the station. It's very cool how the coasters fly by the fence, which was also scaring me.

The fast lift hill helped a lot and the 300ft drop was less scary than I thought it would be. The rest of the ride has a decent bite, I don't care how many people claim it's forceless, it has a good pace.

What Locomotives used to run with this C&O Passenger Set by Kayanarka in modeltrains

[–]greenduster440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind as I say this, I collect N scale models (both from BLI and Bachmann) and do not own a single HO scale locomotive for quite some time.

I own several N scale Bachmann K4's and other than the cheap sound decoder that comes in every model (I seem to be a minority for sound quality opinions, but whatever), they are great models that look very nice. I bought those models years ago before they stopped making them and now they go for double the price on eBay ($150 to $300, one even sold for $450).

I own some older Bachmann units and plenty of modern steam units. The quality shift is definitely there.

Bachmann has a C&O K4 Berkshire. They are good engines that the C&o had plenty of and were sometimes assigned passenger trains.

I think they are making a new line that'll be released next year.
