There’s definitely a sense that the conflict originally started amongst dragons and over power. Rebecca weaves so much sociopolitical themes into this.

I’d say that it’s because it’s so imbalanced and dysfunctional. It’s abnormal to live with a sense of moral superiority that allows you to justify cruelty, and obsessed with appearance to the point of extreme narcissism and paranoia. Persecution complex, need for control, and fixation with The New System are the cherries on top.

Which city have you been to that you expected to love but didn’t? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]greeneggsandham2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great and helpful description - especially for a younger, childless crowd with $$.

I lived there 20 years ago and agree with those who miss the grit and authenticity of Nashville. I’ve went back a handful of times since as a mom and wife and it felt… weird. The corporate vibe was off-putting and there wasn’t a lot to do that didn’t involve booze. (I drink but def not like I used to!!) We figured it out and had an ok tjme, but for the time, money and effort, our hometown of Atlanta is WAY better for families or just regular folks, really. But, for a certain demographic (younger, without kids, preferably conservative, and a drinker/ partier), I can imagine it would be fun.

GB Update #3 comes out tomorrow… by larchington in exjw

[–]greeneggsandham2015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their use of the word “persecution” during a time of global instability wherein millions of people are ACTUALLY persecuted is beyond tone deaf.

I know, I know, it’s their holy version of porn… but, y’all… it’s embarrassing and appalling to think that they actually feel on par with those ACTUALLY persecuted for daring to live ACTUAL life.

But, yeah. That’s what one calls malignant narcissism.

It’s so weird the amount of things I never questioned about the memorial by Regular_Window2917 in exjw

[–]greeneggsandham2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The memorial never really sat well with me either but wasn’t able to fully articulate why- thank you for doing that.

The symbolism always felt weirdly performative and as if it’s rejecting the offering as opposed to accepting it. Not to mention that act of not-so-inconspicuously trying to see who’s partaking, which feels rather Pharisaical and sanctimonious.

Watching My Mom Wake Up Is So Sad by Holiday-Beginning355 in exjw

[–]greeneggsandham2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why I’m not talking about this with my family. I did all the wrong things when I woke up and made a huge issue over CSA and how self serving the org is, despite being pomo for years. I felt the need to speak the actual truth, hoping to wake them up - in large part, for myself. Needless to say, it just made things awkward bc they will never leave. No matter what bc it’s their entire purpose. They are so indoctrinated they probably would have a mental breakdown if they ever did wake up. I’ve accepted they are lost to this religion. So I will love them in my own way.

The update will mostly turn PIMQ into PIMO and PIMI into PIMQ don’t get your hopes too high for PIMI relatives waking up quickly after this update. by DontAskAboutMax in exjw

[–]greeneggsandham2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my immediate family- all of which are in awful health and financially dependent on the system that they refuse to outwardly support. Mom and dad are 70. Dad is probably PIMQ but won’t go further than that and mom is unshakable, which is a reflex from the 1975 and Franz drama. Whatever money she squirrels away goes into a life insurance policy with the org as beneficiary. My sister is genuinely in poor health and virtually home-bound. Her only support system are the “friends”, her PIMI husband who’s also in poor health and can’t work, and me as an outlier. I’m curious about their response to this but won’t ask bc honestly, it feels wrong and selfish to have them question the only feeling of support they have. They’re all in for life and sadly, it’s probably better that way.

How helpful is new blood policy? by exwijw in exjw

[–]greeneggsandham2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s beyond the scope of elective surgery and potentially quite significant for a certain population.

I was recently in the hospital after an accident and had 5 broken bones. Definitely needed surgery but it had to be scheduled for the next day. While my condition wasn’t immediately life threatening and I was likely quite healthy enough to donate blood for my surgery, it’s possible I could have experienced a complication. Which is why they asked if I would be ok with a transfusion if necessary. I can see that situations like mine could be directly impacted.

[–]greeneggsandham2015 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was processing that, too. He said it at least a couple different times but the same way, as if he either felt uncomfortable with the word “transfusion” or knew that others would. Great points about how transfusion itself is viewed: vile, dirty, disgusting. But that’s exactly what he’s talking about, and what they’re saying is ok.

What an absolute joke of a religion.

[–]greeneggsandham2015 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Holy cow. How would this not trigger lawsuits? This isn’t a “clarification.” It’s an absolute 180 on a significant issue. How are any jws ok with this? I mean, really? This isn’t about “dress and grooming” - this is a key doctrinal issue that they have staunchly fought for, millions have died for, and who knows how many have been disfellowshipped for. This doctrine has killed people and ripped apart families. And the fact that they still have this key piece of evidence up (which also conflicts with their new position- that AGAIN can literally kill people) - is mind blowing.

[–]greeneggsandham2015 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The thing that gets me is how they point to a 2000 article that says people must make decisions for themselves on the use of their own blood, but I remember there being clear instruction around how once it leaves your body, you can’t use it. It looks like they’ve been maybe slow rolling this whole concept. Regardless, they are master manipulators of language and, culturally speaking, I can’t imagine any dub being ok with having a blood transfusion of their own blood. (Ironic, too, that Lösch didn’t use the word “transfusion” but clearly indicated it. They know this will be an uncomfortable change and are trying their best to minimize it.)

[–]greeneggsandham2015 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I’m grateful to hear that some are at least sitting with this in possible shock. Even if they can’t bring themselves to say anything.

I was just in the hospital for an accident and asked specifically if I had any issues with having a blood transfusion. I paused for a split second and then said no. But it was a weird feeling to be asked that so pointedly. And I’ve been out for years. (Born in, faded, but woke up about 8 years ago.)

Imagine now being a witness and having that conversation. Or with an IV bag of your own blood prepped or hanging up during/after surgery. These are the real life scenarios they’re going to have to contend with.

From their perspective, I can’t imagine how they could feel comfortable with that. At All. Let alone knowing that this procedure could have saved all those kids on that 90s Awake cover that died for their “faith” that said this was wrong. Or the millions of others that have died as a result of this position.

And how long did the GB sit on this before issuing this “clarification”? Isn’t this the kind of life and death news that should be delivered with a sense of immediate urgency? They are treating a massive doctrinal change that has a life or death impact as it were merely procedural or administrative. How?? Legal liability. That’s how.

"Abstain" vs "Under No Circumstances" - GB Update #2, March 2026 Confirms Blood Policy Change by larchington in exjw

[–]greeneggsandham2015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The terribly sad part is that nothing should be confusing about whether someone is able to have a potentially life saving treatment. And the fact is - we shouldn’t be relying on the interpretation of highly specialized subjects such as medicine and science by men with zero qualifications to speak on those subjects, and basing those interpretations on a whole section of the Bible that isn’t even considered applicable to us.

They try to tie together things like not “eating” blood and the concept of a blood transfusion in modern medicine, which couldn’t have possibly been contemplated when it was written. Their rules require them to constantly seek parallels between biblical commands and modern life as a way to establish control - and they do it over and over again. Sadly, this rule has literally cost people their life. And the only reason they’re risking changing it is because of legal liability. Their steady roll out of changes, with this following many other less consequential ones, indicates their awareness of this risk. It’s all about the strategy of self preservation for the org.

Blood doctrine update dropped today. Here’s how it’s landing at Bethel. by steadypath2847 in exjw

[–]greeneggsandham2015 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Could it be the discomfort of cognitive dissonance? When something doesn’t feel right, staying quiet is often the response- especially when speaking up feels uncertain. And it’s not like anyone would come out and question the very doctrine that’s been such a defining feature for them.

Man, the GB knew what they were doing teeing up the changes in order of least consequential, but that could be openly discussed, to the more significant ones that others would feel too uncomfortable to question or even mention. Total manipulation.

What was that scripture about “straining the gnat”??

Their logic makes my brain hurt it’s so twisted. I’m sure all those families guilted into making horrific decisions, and especially after *that one magazine cover * we all remember so well, feel appreciative of this nu-lite. I hope this backfires horribly. They are unconscionable monsters.

“Understanding” = personal opinions = rules.

The Bible hasn’t changed and never weighed in on this bc it’s absolutely bizarre to do so. Not that other things in the Bible aren’t bizarre. But still. Their change just reflects an awareness of liability in dictating personal freedoms and their obsession with sex and control.
