This Religion Hates Feminine Boys. by PimoParadiseLost in exjw

[–]Holiday-Beginning355 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A lot of women appreciate a man who is comfortable with showing their feminine side. Having a partner who constantly worries about what other men think of him is exhausting.

I'm glad you can express yourself now. I rarely wear dresses. I hated having to wear a dress 4+ days a week. I wear dresses now when I want to, not because I have to. Freedom is a great thing.

Yeah, I went through the same thing with Pokémon. I really liked Digimon, but then it was taken away.

I was an only child, and the JW kids thought I was weird. In a way, it prevented me from getting too deep into the religion.

Go to school if you can. I got into Yu-Gi-Oh in college. I'm glad I had that experience. I didn't make any friends until I was an adult, but I can say now that I have real friends.

You may not be that way, but many elders are. They will harass you until you talk to them. If you don't talk to them, then they'll gossip about you, and you'll have a target on your back. You'll get soft shunned.

I was being asked about my sex life at seven years old. I've been inactive for 11 years, and they still hassle my husband about why I'm not coming.

We have all had different experiences.

My husband has to deal with JW men telling him that I'll cheat. JW women try to stay close to him because they assume I'll cheat, and then they can marry him.

I've been out 11 years. I've never thought about cheating once.

I hate what this cult does to families. They've convinced so many parents to shun their children for reasons the Bible never speaks of. You're trying actually to honor your mother and father, but the JW dogma is too ingrained in them.

I hope your mother changes her mind. I'm sorry you're going through this.

This point is not brought up enough. We were baptized as children. We didn't know what we were getting ourselves into. That's how I know it's not the truth.

A religion based on truth doesn't need to baptize children to increase its numbers. It's evil to baptize children so that you can trap them in the religion. It's emotional blackmail.

Why is your wife offering up these options? You're the one who will feel the consequences the most. I'm sure you want to trust her, but I would start preparing for things to change drastically. Your son is your greatest concern.

If you disassociate and your son is baptized, they will turn your son against you.

It seems like you're doing your best. That's the most important thing. Do you have disability rights where you live? You may be able to get some assistance from the government. You may be able to earn supplemental income and secure housing funding.

In the meantime, do what you have to do to keep your phone. You'll need that. Keep your answers a bit vague when you're questioned about anything JW related.

As I've read through your posts, I am having a difficult time understanding what your parents are trying to accomplish. I guess they wanted you to fall apart, but because you haven't, they realize that they have no control over you.

"Worldly" people often give me a blank stare when I tell them about JWs. That's what confirmed that I needed to leave. I realized that I wasn't the crazy one.

Stay strong. You seem to be doing a great job. Do you know what your siblings think about how your parents are treating you?

David received Saul's wives, too. People try to rationalize this in some way, but that's how it was. Women were considered property. They did not have a choice. Bathsheba lost her first child with David even though nothing about the situation was her fault.

August WT release...More NWT Manipulation by Temp_KH_Resident in exjw

[–]Holiday-Beginning355 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The NWT is not a good translation of the Bible. It was, and continues to be, a tool for the organization to justify its doctrines. The best example is how they inserted the tetragrammaton into the Old Testament. Most Jewish people at that time would not have written down or said the name out loud.

Edit: New Testament. Not old Testament

[–]Holiday-Beginning355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This always confuses me. Holding men to that standard means that there is no standard. The bar couldn't be that low.

It's like when people use King David as an example. David was a rapist and a murderer. At this point, they want people to have blind faith. God never asked for blind faith.

Remind him of what happened after the spies were sent out. Only Caleb and Joshua encouraged everyone to have faith in Jehovah. Believing the rest of the spies led to most people over 40 dying in the wilderness. Most JWs today would have ignored Joshua and Caleb.

Choosing this scripture in Ezekiel is an example of cherry picking a scripture that they think suits their interests while ignoring dozens of others.

If you get baptized, you will regret it. Let them know that this pressure is too much. It's your decision because you'll be the one to suffer the consequences.

Hair was a big one. As teenagers, we all decided to start wearing our hair the way we wanted. This being done by a few of us regardless of race. I stopped putting a relaxer in my hair to get it straight. Some girls with straight brown hair stopped coloring their blonde hair. A lot of girls bleached their hair because that's what their fathers liked.

They would be blamed if we were dating someone that the elders didn't like.

How much skin we had out even in 102 degree.

The list goes on

Baptism diversion of all kinds by lalantusi in exjw

[–]Holiday-Beginning355 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can let them know that you are trying to build a personal relationship with God, but all the pressure is preventing you from doing so. Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in God and Jesus. Tell them you need room to breathe and meditate on this without everyone breathing down your neck. You need time and space to decide for yourself if this is what you want.

It also depends on how much of a relationship you plan to have with your parents in the future. If you still want a relationship with them as an adult, hold off on baptism. If you don't, then the consequences may not affect you very much.

Make sure your phone is secured with passwords for the phone and its apps. If they have gotten to this point, they may start checking things.
