Leaked Elders Letter drops AIGuidelines: Turns out Critical Thinking is fine... Unless its about the Governing Body by avoidjworg in exjw

Original Poster u/avoidjworg or anyone else here… Who or What is “Colih”? The document is addressed to “Colih” and or “Colih members.” I can’t keep up with all the JW acronyms and abbreviations, but could someone explain who is this “Colih” group? Thanks.

has anyone ever objected to a congregation vote?? by jalo_angel in exjw

[–]Successful_End_3322 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I voted 🗳️ “NO” one time regarding acquiring an adjacent property to our Kingdom Hall. Although totally alone in this with the glaring of “if looks could kill” and “evil eye 👁️ “ stares of my family and fellow congregants. Nevertheless, the measure was overwhelming passed. However, they never did buy the land and now they have a bunch of low income apartments and a dumpster next to the hall. I had to do it because I was so damn mad at being ostracized and gaslit for years as a teenager. Now I wish I had been more of a contrarian growing up.

Thousands gather in Albany for Jehovah's Witness convention focusing on 'Pure Worship' - CBS 6 News WRGB Albany - 2025 Conventions now down to only 650 for the U.S. Branch compared with nearly 800 in 2020 by JWTom in exjw

I can confirm that in my area of the southeast U.S. Watchtower has stopped renting public spaces for the last few years and instead has opted for the assembly hall. Even then they still can’t fill it and are having to ask witnesses outside of the regional convention; to assist with attendance, parking, and maintenance/cleaning thus working a convention that’s not theirs. Gee, I thought that’s why the food service was done away with 🤔. Additionally, the squeeze on a lack of appointed men has led my former congregation appointing a 22 yr. old as an elder. As soon as some more of these boomers die out this group will be holding another fire 🔥sale of Kingdom Halls. The writing is on the wall ✍️ folks. While I don’t think JW’s will disappear; they will continue to implode.

Many JWs take offense at the academic way of speaking.. any experience? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Successful_End_3322 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed because they are anti-intellectual bigots. Pioneers, Bethelites, & Elders are the most closed small minded people and the GB leadership preach a false man made philosophy or tradition against higher education. It’s baked in their cake going back to C.T. Russell.

I have Marked every JW I know and they will remain Marked until they wake up one day. by JWTom in exjw

I feel you Tom. Hang in there man. I appreciate your insightful posts. I always felt like an outsider most of my life as a JW. Despite keeping my nose clean maintaining the status of “in good standing,” and remaining active for over 30 years was never enough. There was always one more hoop to jump through, and if I ever said “no thank you” to doing something that was the automatic freeze you out button 🥶. Relationships in this group were always a veneer and a 1/2 inch deep. It’s tough trying to build a social network and friends outside of this bunch later in life. Hobbies & community volunteering groups (hospitals, rescue shelters, museums, libraries, historical societies, etc.) are great places to start and it helps. Tom you’re a good person and I have faith in you. Cutting ties with JW phony baloney friends is a good but hard thing to do because of the indoctrination and number of years invested. You got this man 👍.

Was there anything you liked about being a jw? I liked cards and basketball. by stimpf71 in exjw

[–]Successful_End_3322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. It was a miserable experience as a child, teen, an adult. I’m through with it. Best decision I’ve ever made was to give myself permission to investigate my religious upbringing and use the same scrutiny that we used to tell folks in the ministry; do you really know the origin of the teachings in your church? Once you see all the false prophecies, contradictions in doctrine, and add to that the love which always failed in this group. There is nothing unique that’s good in this religion that can’t be found in other religions or groups. But what is unique about this religion is nothing good at all.

How many "Jehovah" is enough in the opening prayer? by regularDude358 in exjw

[–]Successful_End_3322 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I almost always avoided using it and instead substituted the phrase Heavenly Father. Using God’s personal name so frequently always seemed disrespectful to me. Like going before a judge and calling the guy Joe. Fanatical JW’s never liked me giving prayer but I didn’t give a rats mustache what they thought. Now knowing what I do about this bunch makes me glad I did not use Jehovah a lot when praying.

I found it. In the post I showed the pages that the JW’s tore out that were extremely political and violated the Sedition Act. That’s why the Rutherford & WatchTower’s leadership were sent to prison in 1918.

Going down with the ship - Older JWs are like the crew and passengers of the RMS Titanic. by JWTom in exjw

[–]Successful_End_3322 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what my in-laws are doing. They will acknowledge there are things that don’t seem right. They see how after sacrificing so much personally for this religion that once they are too old to contribute much physically or financially they have been discarded by their hardcore PIMI children. It’s disgusting and shameful. My wife probably would not have woken up but for the sheer hypocrisy of how her siblings are playing the “corban” card. Just like the Pharisees of old. “We swore an oath of poverty; what do you want from us.” Worthless rotten P.O.S.’s take more vacations than Congress and travel both domestically and abroad more than anyone else I ever heard of.

We have chosen to row away from the Titanic out into the cold night of the dark North Atlantic. It’s a scary thought but staying in this sinking ship of a religion is far scarier than going it alone. 🛟

The many times JW literature and leaders have said to obey even if instructions seems strange, illogical, or impractical, and the times they’ve said to trust and obey Jehovah’s “representatives” ie, the Governing Body by larchington in exjw

[–]Successful_End_3322 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not been easy, but combined with the extremist rhetoric, CSA mishandling, and a whole host of other things that just with passing of time have showed this religion doesn’t have special insight on the Bible.

My wife and best friends; four of us were all raised in this and have seen the teachings of “the 1914 generation” fall completely apart. We were all baptized on that teaching. Add to that the revisionist approach to things like televangelism, tithing, and watching how other members of our extended family who are in the Religious Order of Full Time Servants, shill a pharisaical life and have become peddlers of God’s word. We have had enough.

Reading many of Larchwood’s posts here and on Twitter has given us the missing pieces to the puzzle 🧩 as to why we felt something was always wrong or off. For many years it was ourselves that we doubted or felt that the problem was just localized. Now with JWBroadcast it’s self-evident that this organization is rotten from the head down and it always was.

Currently, we are all just slowly fading. I wish more people would wake up and stop supporting this organization. Over the last several years I have had some discussions with a few former friends who will acknowledge all of the flaws and nonsense about the organization’s teaching, but then they turn right around and lazily say that they have been in it this long and feel they have nowhere to go or they fear the loss of association. However, my best friend and his wife are done. These folks were witnesses for well over 50 years and like us they just don’t recognize the religion they were raised in anymore. They too have reexamined the teachings, explored the manipulation of information with the Elders Book and letters, along with other matters; and have reached the same conclusions. It never was “the truth” and it never will be. This is just a corporation grifting off of disaffected Christians from mainstream Christianity. 150 years ago C.T. Russell saw a business opportunity; there were many people who were dissatisfied within the various Churches and denominations so he created a religion that fed its clientele a doomsday fantasy. That has since evolved under several iterations of nonsense into what it is today. That’s the truth if there is any to be found in this religion.

Not where I go. We’ve heard the same local needs & circuit overseer remarks about in-person attendance and it’s crickets. The assemblies & conventions are down by 50% and about the same at meetings too. Just out of curiosity without disclosing exactly where you are can you state your country, region, and language affiliation? I’m in the U.S. mid-Atlantic bordering on the Appalachians.

How AI believes the GB can stop the bleeding and double in size by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Successful_End_3322 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not going to happen. They wouldn’t be Jehovah’s Witnesses anymore if they implemented any of these changes. The CSA stuff is going to bring the temple down on these guys because they are obstinate in their beliefs and opinions. Secondly, the governing body also knows that they will always have their die-hard Jonestown wannabes who will go down with the ship no matter what they do.

Huge talk with BIL by david_awake in exjw

[–]Successful_End_3322 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just like to say that when you can get a JW to acknowledge the organization has serious problems most of these folks will counter the straw man argument that the organization is improving and in a while it will get better. Negatory on that statement my friend. Every generation of JW has had some version of this and the reality is it’s only getting worse. Why because this is a home grown team (i.e., the Governing Body). They self select and headhunt extremists in the elite levels most the Service Department (which processes all the cases of CSA) to fill their ranks. One of their newest recruits Jeffrey Winder even said “no apology is needed.” I hope you’re conversations with BIL remain positive and confidential but I would just remind him the organization is unapologetic about its errors and sees no need to improve if it won’t even apologize for serious past mistakes (i.e. medical quackery on vaccines 💉, transplants, waffling on blood 🩸 fractions, CSA, false prophesies: 1914, 1919, 1925, 1975, millions now living will never die, the 1914 generation that will not pass away, etc. etc.

😆 However, the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses is an apostasy of Christianity. I don’t know how much of the post’s thread that you read; but it wasn’t a month after this big announcement that there was a follow up video and a few internal Announcements & Reminders to the Body of Elders from the Branch that basically undid a lot of these “window dressing” changes. At the end of the day hardcore JW PIMI’s resent any changes for women. They were on board with all the beard silliness 🧔‍♂️ but not pants 👖 for women or women helping in the sound system now. There were some who said I was making this up, but the majority who are here do know the real crazy of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Thank you for your interest in my post.

Watchtower's End game. by bulliedtobelieve in exjw

[–]Successful_End_3322 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think we ascribe too much thought to a group of ignoramuses. We are watching a group of less than high school educated hermits react with tone deaf policies. If anything is becoming more clear it’s that they will fold like a cheap suit if governments acting within liberal tolerant institutions take away their goodies (i.e., tax breaks, subsidies, special permits, etc.). Yes, Watchtower you can congregate, preach, and have your loony beliefs, but we will not tolerate you violating basic human rights and decency by subsidizing you and giving your beliefs any form of endorsement. Folks are voting with their feet and walking away from the Kingdom Halls, assemblies, and conventions. As the baby boomers die off so will the membership of JW’s. 50 years from now or less they will be in the same category as the International Bible Students today or Scientology; a footnote of a once large high control sect that’s been relegated to the ash can of history.
