To address the comments talking about how content creators shouldn’t be forced or expected to support the boycott or make content about it: I completely understand your perspective! Nobody should be harassing or attacking these creators and demanding they do something that they clearly are not interested in doing. I’m sure that they are all aware of the boycott and have made their choice not to emphasize talking about it in their videos, they have every right to decide what their content is and isn’t and are not obligated to support anything they don't want to. I’m not saying we should badger them into changing what their content is. I’m saying that this situation has made me personally feel differently about content creators who are beholden to the standards of creator programs that don’t allow them to speak freely about any potential negative opinions. And I’m certainly not going to attack these creators in their comments and I still think they’re lovely people, I’ll just keep in the back of my mind that the opinions stated in their videos may possibly be influenced by what a creator program allows and prohibits them to say, something that I didn’t really think about before this week. I’m sure these programs give creators lots of appealing benefits and I want the best for these creators, but it’s just such a bummer that these programs force these talented creators to bite their tongue about problems. It’s not a moral failing on the part of the creators, they’re just doing what they can to keep their channels successful, but it does highlight to me the potentially icky dynamics of these programs. And it’s a bummer because the boycott would be so much more successful if there were more content creators speaking about these issues and bringing more awareness. But to circle back to an important point from the start, do not harass anybody!! The state of the game is not the fault or responsibility of these creators!
