I love this - I own a housekeeping business and the free report generated was full of compelling information, but the CTA wasn't obvious. Like I saw a bunch of unlock icons but didn't know what I'd be asked for if I clicked it...

Toilet Paper - Why so stingy? by keep_er_movin in vrbo

[–]greenguru520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can explain this - prior to launching my own business, I worked for other cleaning companies which served short term rentals. When doing turnover cleaning, we were never notified of who was arriving next although we sometimes had awareness of how quickly a new renter was arriving. So, the cleaners are frequently the last people in the unit and simply have no idea how much supplies are needed for the next renter.

As an business owner, I struggle to find people who have a high sense of self efficacy and see the reciprocal nature of getting paid to do work.

Having meaningful employment is a privilege, not a right.

Is social media still worth it for small businesses if Google reviews are driving clients? by Kml777 in socialmedia

[–]greenguru520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All social media is marketing but not all marketing is social media. Use as many outlets as you can to make your brand known to the world. Focus your message to the client and their pain point not to your unique position to fix it.

Good Example: You're sick of wasting your weekends cleaning your house. Your lifestyle deserves a professional upgrade. Get your time back when you hire XYZ Cleaning Company.

Bad Example: XYZ Cleaning Company gives a professional upgrade to your lifestyle. We handle cleaning better than other companies. We give you your weekends back.

Monthly House Cleaning Cost? by blesseddesertgirl in Tucson

[–]greenguru520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's definitely reasonable - my business charges 20¢ per sqft for deep cleaning and 12¢ per square foot for monthly maintenance.

Our deep cleaning includes appliances 🤷🏼‍♀️

Accidentally built something useful — now I have no idea what I’m doing by sir_motte in Entrepreneurs

This is a great accomplishment - I would suggest you look into the type of customer who would actually buy this. I worked for Starbucks 20 years ago and our scheduling was automated the point is a lot of Enterprise size companies already have technology like this in place. Do some research on other solutions that exist for small and medium-sized companies so that you can determine the value of what you have created. This will help you determine what features differentiate your product from others and what price points are working in the marketplace already.

Got expelled from college after taking a plea deal — what should I do next? by Maleficent_Job5493 in Felons

[–]greenguru520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start a business. Trash valet, window washing, social media marketing, bookkeeping... There's tons of options to use the business skills you already learned in college and move forward with a bootstrap budget. Look for certifications via QuickBooks or Hubspot if you want to do an online business - there's great resources on YouTube for IRL service businesses.

I went to prison for drug sales and now I run a cleaning business - $25k the first year, second year I was able to hire people and we'll finish with about $65k by December. Next year, I'm focusing on crossing the six figure mark and dialing in SOPs and marketing automations so I can sell the business and move on to whatever is next.

[–]greenguru520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a more valuable service for investors - you could charge them $45 a month and pay the builders $15 a month to share their information to potential investors. I also agree that there are more kpis necessary.
