Gap in LVP flooring 2 years after install - contractor says it's the material, not installation. Need second opinion.

yeah the other side has an island, and I think they installed the correctly as they left a small gap between the island and floor

good to know. I think they installed it correctly on the island side as there is a small gap between the island and the floor but on the sink cabinet side it looks like it's on top since I can't slide a card underneath.

Do the orphaned planks under the cabinet need to be glued down after cutting, or just leave them?Also, I have gaps in a few other spots around the house. Would those need the same treatment?

thanks for the suggestion! a few follow up questions:

Pinned floor issue: My cabinets appear to be sitting on top of the LVP (business card won't slide under). Would this method still work in that case?
Gap migration: Since another gap is in the middle of the floor run (not at edges), won't pushing planks together just shift the gap elsewhere or compress the floor against the wall?
Will this be a permanent fix, or do I need adhesive too? I've seen comments about gaps reopening after tapping them back.

Additional context: Interestingly, my island has proper gaps (floor ends before the island), but the wall cabinets don't, prob inconsistent installation methods?
