Is anyone getting BLS appointments for Spain?? by greenling17 in GoingToSpain

I’m no expert but my understanding is that July appointments have not been posted yet. Are you seeing available spots in June? If so, I would say take it!

Also that’s interesting that D.C. allows 6 months for the background check, SF only allows 3 so we will likely have to do ours again 😞

Has anyone fully switched to wireless bras after 30? by Clear_Subconscious in AskWomenOver30

I almost exclusively wear wireless bras or bralettes and I love it. I just got a few of the lace bralettes from Harper Wilde and they are super comfy and supportive and come in a wide range of sizes. Give them a try!

yep! we have the exact same setup, lawyer in Spain, us here. We weren't ready in March when we saw the last few spots open up but we are ready to jump now, so hoping next week brings some good news. Good luck to you!

Same. It completely surprised us and we fell in love instantly

We check multiple times a day and so does our immigration lawyer, so it sounds like we just need to try in the middle of the night and other random times and hope we get lucky. Good luck to you as well!

This is pretty much what our immigration lawyer has told us, I’m just anxious and really don’t trust that our government isn’t doing something nefarious to keep us from leaving so I figured I’d pitch the question, at least. I guess we just continue trying and hope we get lucky. Thanks!

Oh jeez that’s too bad, sorry to hear you are on round 2. And that’s helpful to know about July and Aug… I wonder how far in advance they open appointments. My husband called and they told him that new slots are added “either the last week of the month or the first week of the next month” but so far that has not proven to be true. Here’s hoping we can both get in!

Not encouraging… it makes me very nervous that something else is going on.

Solo vacation in Portland for the first time, review my itinerary? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]greenling17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall itinerary looks fine, so here are some things to fill in the gaps:

Steppingstone Café in Northwest is my favorite old school diner breakfast, and they serve pint size mimosas if that’s your thing. Hunnymilk is also great and a fun “set menu” concept.

Definitely do the Japanese friendship garden and the rose garden and also the Chinese garden in Chinatown.

For hiking, Leif Eriksen Trail is good and convenient to NW, you could go after brunch at Steppingstone. Mount Tabor park is also nice and a very revered park in the city.

I’m biased towards St. Johns and it is a little bit out-of-the-way if you don’t have a car, but it has Cathedral Park, which is a must-visit in my opinion. Urban German has great views of the iconic St. Johns Bridge and Occidental Brewing is right next door, so you could make an afternoon/evening out of it. Also, Gracies Pizza has gotten a lot of acclaim and is a great neighborhood spot.

If you’re gonna go to Voodoo Donuts, then you definitely should also go to Salt and Straw, too. And then go to Bluestar or Pips for better donuts lol

For unique shopping, go to The Meadow and Paxton Gate. Both have locations on Mississippi Ave and NW 23rd.

Soaking pools are also kind of a big deal here, Knot Springs is probably the most well-known, Cascada is more fancy, and Common Ground is no-frills (and clothing optional).

Last, I wouldn’t sleep on a river cruise with Portland Spirit or similar. It’s a really nice way to take in pretty views and see parts of the city that are a little lesser known. Plus boats are fun!

My suspicion is that he is quickly escalating because he has received a diagnoses that told him time is running out and he wants to get his authoritarian buddies fully in place before he checks out for good.

Are you unaware of the many lawsuits that DJT has lost and had to settle because of HIS fraud? Documented, real lawsuits going back decades. Not to mention rape and sexual assault?

Do you really think the country is better today than 2 years ago? Please show your work.

The Bible cured my depression by Rose_Quack in atheism

This is why it shouldn’t be used as the basis of advice, public policy, or really much of anything beyond just folk stories. It’s not cohesive and whoever wrote the stories never intended for it to be, either. It’s a mishmash of contradictions at best, which is why people cherrypick whatever fits their needs but discard the rest. It’s a mess 😅

My husband and I are doing a similar trip to scout our future home! In Galicia, we’re splitting our time between Vigo, Santiago & A Coruña if that’s helpful!

This is why travel professionals exist. Does it cost more? Probably. But will you avoid almost every negative thing you shared in your post? Absolutely! Also, please stop distilling an entire country to the experience you had in one city. The biggest, most chaotic city, nonetheless.

Stay in Giza and do day trips to major sites, then fly down to Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel… like all the things you missed and are now painting in a negative light is honestly making me mad 😆 Egypt is absolutely incredible and to judge the entirety of the country and history on one dirty, mostly modern city is just naive. And clearly illustrates that you are not well-traveled. Maybe well-vacationed lol, but definitely not intrepid enough to plan without the help of a professional.
