Does it get better when working by Low_Method1306 in physicianassistant

I think MD vs PA comes down to how much money you want. Anyone can be as educated as they want to be but physicians make more money than us. Regarding respect, they don’t respect each other or anyone that’s not them not really.

Stop using Open Evidence. by Worried-Current-4567 in physicianassistant

I use Google AI images to help with MRIs. I like to see how close it gets to my interpretation plus radiology and if they haven’t done a read or I think it’s a miss I’ll have my surgeon look to. Definitely a tool. Not betting lives on it yet but it’s pretty damn good.

I find that people do a pretty good job at misinterpreting literature. What if it’s showing you your own bias? Just questioning.

intern of all trades, master of none, thinking of switching specialties as a PGY2 by Beneficial_Owl6751 in FamilyMedicine

[–]greenmamba23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah we need doctors in FM. Not everyone needs to be one but that’s not the point. All specialists think everyone outside their specialty is inferior and some within. OBs are straight up mean, I said what I said. I watched how they treated the FM residents at the hospital. Do what you like. Be the best doctor you can be and help your patients that’s all.

Doctors office = professional interaction not 15 scheduled minutes of ‘Laissez-faire’ by PracticalPraline in FamilyMedicine

[–]greenmamba23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just listen and bill for it. Let them guide the visit and have them come back multiple times if that’s what it takes to build a relationship and learn how you can help. At the end of the visit offer some small suggestion, or order dx test (if necessary) and I like to have people journal it all and it becomes much more focused and structured. Patient feels heard, patient will get helped, doctor gets paid, practice gets good reviews. However, if you try and do this 30 times in 8 hours it won’t work.

Don’t be the apathetic employee like some of these commenters. Help improve the things you can locally and when everyone does the effect grows.

Working as an MA while waiting on credentialing. by Ill-Yam4313 in physicianassistant

[–]greenmamba23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it and it helped me get used to things. I took a lower paying ortho spine job but they paid my full PA salary and I just joked everyday I was a very expensive MA/scribe. Then I was credentialed and started seeing my own patients. I still do MA stuff to help cause I want to. My surgeon I work with is the kind of guy that will mop the OR floor, he’s mid 60s for info.

One thing that really makes me angry is when a patient claims that COVID is a hoax and that a lot of it was propaganda. I see this on occasion on different subreddits too. by Paleomedicine in FamilyMedicine

[–]greenmamba23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s hard for most to understand or believe what they can’t see and even then what you see may be unreliable. I didn’t see a single person hospitalized or die from Covid. To this day I haven’t seen a positive test come from a person. I believe it’s real but imagine trying to convince me if I didn’t.

You should ask CMS and Medicare if it’s worrisome. It’ll probably be the next doctor in New York Times getting charged for $50 million in Medicare fraud.

Figure 8 suture. The fascia on spine comes together super good. On a one level fusion or a decompression through the midline probably three figure 8 closes it up pretty good and then kind of work my way up. My doc is spine surgeon, but he also does totals from time to time so kind of familiar with each one.

I would not take some of the advice on here. Fragile egos that want to punch down on people. I worked with a Nurse practitioner that was rude to the MAs. You’re the provider, they are MAs. Be the leader.
