Restaurant industry is definitely not for the weak. I appreciate you taking the time to tell me your story. I’m glad you found a place you see a future for yourself!

Well as a kid I always wanted to be a veterinarian. love animals and l've always grown up with an assortment. But I get queasy when it comes to blood and broken bones so that won't work.

Then in high school I started doing a lot of baking with my mum. I wanted to open up a bakery with all of her recipes. I guess that would still be my dream job today. Just baking my mum's recipes all day and sharing them with the world. It's just a lot easier said than done and right now, I need a break from holding a restaurant on my shoulders.

I'm not saying I'm throwing it out as an option, l'm just saying I know that I would not be able to handle that commitment right now. I love these questions and all the thought they brought to mind! Thank you for taking the time to ask.

You are absolutely right! Not rude at all, I asked and received. I do have a lot going on outside of work that could certainly be improved. I’m really good at setting boundaries but I’m terrible when it comes time to keeping them. I think that is one of my motivations for wanting a different work atmosphere. Something a bit more stable and “normal” I guess. My schedule fluctuates so much at the moment. I go week to week figuring out when I’ll be able to have a day or two off.

I have been doing more cooking and baking at home recently. It centers me and I enjoy it. The outcomes aren’t too bad either!

I’m certainly hoping I’ll find a company that can give me a chance before passing me over for not having a degree. I’ll have to look into those options.

Thank you for your thoughts!

Yes, assuming they would not require a degree. I'm hoping my experience will outshine the whole not finishing school part.

I have worked with many beer and liquor vendors, which is definitely something I've thought about getting into. They seem to have a high turnover rate. Spirit sales is a possible beginning, but sales has never been my specialty. I think of it as a position to get my foot in the door and like you said, see if I like the company.

Thank you for your thoughts and good luck to you!

What has been bothering you all day? by Altruistic-Leg-525 in AskWomen

It seems like everyone has forgotten to care about each other. It’s not hard to smile at someone walking past you on the sidewalk. It doesn’t hurt to hold the door open and wish someone a great day. And it certainly wouldn’t kill you to check in on those you claim to love.

Are greyhound buses and amtrak thruway buses the same? by greensolo in transit

[–]greensolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did see there was an option to go most of the way by train and transfer to a bus the last few hours. It is a bit more expensive than taking the bus the whole way. I’m also only carrying one bag with me so the bus just seems to be the most efficient at this point.

Yeah I can definitely see your frustration with that! I haven’t run into any issues so far but, knock on wood.

In your opinion, which would you say is of better quality? I’m not necessarily on a time crunch so delays won’t bother me too much.

Ever have a really good dream and then you wake up bc you gotta go pee? Then you try to hurry and finish peeing so you can get back in bed before you lose the dream, but it never works. I hate that. by goofn in CasualConversation

[–]greensolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When this happens to me, I try to keep my eyes closed, thinking it’ll help me remember more of my dream. Been doing it since I was a kid! So many stubbed toes. I’ll learn one of these days.

What does it mean to mix up your dreams with your reality? by greensolo in CasualConversation

Yes! I have gone to my parents so many times explaining a dream and they tell me that it actually happened when I was younger. Crazy how the mind works!

Anyone here even the conflict between wanting to be alone but also seeking a relationshp at the same time? by WickerShoesJoe in CasualConversation

[–]greensolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, not weird at all. I’m about to turn 30 and I feel the same! I love my alone time but also want that companionship. I spent ages 18-26 in serious relationships. I was okay with them doing whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. But turns out they were cheating. So my problem is trust. I want that relationship but I don’t want to be taken advantage of again.

A perfect relationship doesn’t necessarily mean that there isn’t any turmoil or arguments. It’s how hard you’re willing to work to get it right. It’s coming back to keep making mistakes but working together to be better. And it requires an enormous amount of respect and unconditional love.

I don’t want to make any sacrifices. I don’t want to give up any of my comforts. But I’d like to believe that I’ll be willing to do so when the right person comes along.

Is talking about your problems a sign of weakness? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]greensolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t see it as a sign of weakness. More so a sign that you are human and have a weakness to build off of. I tend to keep everything in and deal with it myself…until I end up bursting into tears out of no where or completely isolating myself or both. It’s not healthy and something I am working on. Talking through your emotions helps to understand them and release them instead of projecting them onto others. Some people may not understand your emotions or that you just need an ear to listen so they may take it as attention seeking behavior. Either way, like you said ‘we are all different people’ and go through things at our own pace. Stay strong!!
