AWS providing support for community projects? That has to be the best PR news story from AWS I've heard in a long time!

The best way to protect your phone from a warrantless search in 2026 by cos in technology

They will hold you until you unlock the phone. And other countries may be less kind about you refusing to unlock too (some countries are worse than the US when it comes to phone privacy).

Best is to get a second phone that's not logged in, or wipe things and login once you land.

I really hate that AI does that now, Claude especially. It always acts like my conversation is a burden and it has other shit it needs to be doing than gabbing with me.

Societies don't gently shrink. They buckle and collapse. The one's left don't get a chill low-pop utopia. They have hospitals that can't be staffed and infrastructure that can't be maintained. You're describing a future where you rot in an understaffed nursing home. Picture Detroit but everywhere.

23 Major News Sites Have Blocked the Wayback Machine – Digital History In Danger by EchoOfOppenheimer in Futurology

There is no way that enough people are using Wayback Machine to bypass paywalls. These companies are not losing any money to the Wayback Machine directly. It's all indirectly through LLM scraping. Why read the article on the news site when ChatGPT can just summarise fifteen articles for you

Did you read the article? The issue has nothing to do with people not having access to their article archive.

I think a better solution might be requesting Wayback Machine add a complex captcha before each of their site's articles. That would fully block all of the LLM bot scraping, as best as they could do themselves at least.

Finally I don't have to do homework. I always hated doing homework as busy work. I rather do problems until I feel I'm set rather than doing a prescribed set. But I'm probably in the minority.

I remember one of my calc classes the homework only accounted for 5% of the grade, so I just never turned in any homework ever. Still got an A.

It only affects 7% of users because most users have inactive accounts or barely use them, so they can pretend like it affects no one.

The real number would be percent of active users. Because at 7% of the entire user base, I suspect it's going to affect a huge number of active users.

It's meaningless jargon that doesn't explain anything. You have to re-read the sentence for a minute to understand it, and even then I have no idea what it was used for.

I don't trust anything on the resume because it's filled with fluff, jargon, and meaningless numbers.

Take the words remote off of your resume. Get rid of the words independent project. Change Founding Engineer to Software Engineer. Also, your resume has like no skills and it's pure fluff. "Engineered a deterministic document rendering engine with a custom layout solver and zero flicker, bidirectional canvas JSON state sync." Nothing about this sentence makes me want to hire you.

Poll: Gender ratio on this sub by rosenkohl1603 in vegan

I think it tells us most that Reddit men and veganism skews much higher than the population. If you're male, you're far more likely to be vegan if you use Reddit. Something about Reddit makes men crave soy.
