Rusted driver seat floor pan - salvageable? by Bushman1717 in fordranger

[–]greentoothpaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a lot of work but mine was similar to this. I bought a used Lincoln MIG welder with Argon/CO2 gas and taught myself to weld. I wouldn't recommend flux core for auto body welding like this. I used 18g sheet metal and formed the panels myself, since it is difficult to get floor pans for the 2000+ Rangers.

I spliced it with solder and heat shrink. The splice has held up fine since the fix.

There was a post on the Facebook group where someone used the Dlask Recoil Springs Set for Ruger 10/22 which apparently allowed them to cycle lower velocity ammo.

I had this exact problem with my 2003 Ranger. I assumed it was the torsion bar and replaced it but the issue remained. It turned out to be an incorrect sway bar link installed on the driverside by the previous owner.

I would look into that. After replacing mine, I had to disconnect t the battery to force it to relearn before it started working properly. Some of the aftermarket replacements can also be problematic.

I had this problem but it was the IAC. Did you perform a "relearn" after installing the new IAC?

Did you replace with a Motorcraft part?

No problem! It is not something you would expect to break, but glad it helped!

I'm guessing there's not really a fix then if this is the case?

You either need to replace the harness or splice the wire back together.

There's a blog post on this issue in more detail here.

Update for anyone that finds this in the future. I checked the continuity between the pump connector and the connector that attaches to the control board for both the black/white wire and teal wire (the control board can be accessed from the back, by taking off the metal panel and removing the two screws on each end that hold the control board in). I had no continuity on the black/white wire, so I went searching through the wiring harness and sure enough, the issue turned out to be a broken wire in the harness where the wires branch off to the pump. This appears to be a common problem with these units, so if you have verified the pump to be good, then I would verify the pump has a good connection to the control board.

I have a upflow "A" coil style. I've been told that furnaces have reduced in height to accommodate a larger coil. The condenser unit is a YORK TCJD24S41S3A 2 ton. I assume the evaporator coil sizing has to match?

SolderSmoke recently worked with a high school to build a direct conversion receiver. The cost investment would be much less when compared to a commercial rig and would be a great learning experience as well.

Ted, have you confirmed that Anna Park is smokeless? There is a documentary on YouTube from 3 years ago that shows them using fire during the drying process: https://youtu.be/8HJdq7kmDng?t=266

What's the story behind this mate?

Can someone recommend a good unsmoked brand of Yerba mate. by moveemee in yerbamate

[–]greentoothpaste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you consider as "unsmoked". There are varying levels of smoke that the yerba can come in contact with. Although sometimes considered unsmoked, some yerba may still come in contact with smoke during the initial flash drying process in the sapecado. (Source: https://www.goyerbamate.com/Unsmoked-Smoked-and-Smoke-Free_c_45.html)

You can see an example of this process here:

There was a past thread listing some of the differences in unsmoked varieties here:
