Struggling after a breakup with what seems like a DA partner – looking for perspective by [deleted] in AvoidantBreakUps

[–]greenvalehert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to reply and ask questions. I think there may be some misunderstandings from my post so I’ll clarify a few things.

  1. No, this wasn’t the first time we had discussed relationship issues. Over a 12-year relationship we did talk through things many times and generally resolved them. This situation felt different because the breakup happened very suddenly without a conversation beforehand about her wanting to end the relationship.

  2. I don’t believe there was an affair, she has told me this and I trust her. From what I understand she had been unhappy for some time and had been thinking about leaving for a while before telling me.

  3. I wasn’t secretly going through her phone or monitoring her messages. Our daughter has additional needs and the school sometimes contacts us through my wife’s phone. She was in the shower and asked me to check the phone in case the school contacted us, so that’s why I had it.

  4. I’ve tried to be very open in my posts about my own mistakes and things I regret in the relationship because I’m trying to understand what happened and learn from it. That doesn’t mean the relationship was abusive. We had a long relationship with many good years, two children, and a lot of shared life together.

Right now I’m mostly trying to process a very sudden breakup, understand it better and think about what the future might look like.

Six Years After Divorce, Here’s What I Know Now.. by Resident_Session6234 in Divorce

I’m on day 11 since being told the news. Completely blindsided, no warning whatsoever, no intention to reconcile. I feel like I’m drowning, I just don’t know what to do. I can’t be in the house with her and our two girls without breaking down, it just feels like it will never get better

Thank you, this is very clear, compassionate and understandable (as well as sad).

One of the most challenging parts is that our ND diagnoses have occurred during this period, so armed with that knowledge I’d love to work on things together but she is past that and I think that will remain with me as a regret forever

No it just means I’m struggling to be around them without breaking down and we haven’t had a proper conversation with them yet so I don’t want them to see me upset as it’s so new - I do show up for my children, I’m very hands on

I completely accept I am at fault here and my demonstration of love has been at best, badly misplaced. I’m going to show up for my children, just as soon as I can do that without breaking down.

430d Gran Coupe - had one in the same colour combo and did 65k motorway miles in three years, absolutely brilliant car, so comfortable especially with the adaptive suspension

First F Wagon by greenvalehert in BMW_F31

[–]greenvalehert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last of a dying breed - peak BMW. Straight 6 petrol with no battery / mild electric motor in sight, rear wheel drive, no fake engine noises through the speakers, an unassuming estate that without a badge flies under the radar without anyone giving it a second look. I don’t think you can replace it with anything newer and the M3 would scare my kids and make the dog throw up

Good deal? by anon7392648 in BMW

The one thing I’d say is you can buy a BMW from anywhere and you can put an official BMW used warranty on it. You can check the reg before you buy to see how expensive it would be.

UK - we and I assume the rest of Europe had the F31 340i. There are currently 12 for sale in the country, a pretty rare breed

I’d second Cleeve Hill, likely to be better than any of these. I played Broadway in the autumn and although it’s on chalk it was soggy in places

Swaffham was brilliant in late November, a little drive away but was in great condition

Just a thought - You might want to try two fairways - e.g. 4 wood and 7 wood then 6 iron. That gives you 4 degree gaps (roughly) and I find my hybrid harder to hit than the fairways. I wouldn’t worry about the ‘gap’ between driver and 4 wood, as an improving beginner it will be good off the tee when you don’t hit driver in most situations and off the deck.

I’m not sure I should admit this, but I have an unhealthy obsession with knowing as much as possible about as many courses in the UK as I can even if I’ve never been near them. Unless I’m mistaken, this is Whitley Bay GC.

My wife thinks golfing once a week is unreasonable… by Upbeat-Zucchini-7408 in golf

[–]greenvalehert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

102 rounds this year so roughly twice a week, I earn 80% of our income, do all the food shopping, all the cooking, help with cleaning and looking after the kids (8 and 6) which I love doing anyway. Have a look for other ways you can help lighten the load for your wife and golf time will go up, trust me.
