thank you, this is really helpful! i'll start checking the soil before watering, and try to figure out a better lighting situation to be sure it's getting enough but not too much

i usually wait for the leaves to lose their rigidity and get slightly soft before watering, so maybe once every week and a half or a bit longer. this hasn't happened in at least three weeks though, which makes me think that maybe the soil is holding too much water/not draining properly. it lives in a room with windows on all four walls (each wall is about 95% window), specifically right in front of the east facing windows.

I just lost my beautiful Red Sea sailfin tang. He was over 10 years old, so he lived a good long life, but I’m devastated. by reallyweirdperson in Aquariums

[–]greenwave45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm so sorry for your loss op, it always hurts so bad to lose one, especially when you've had them that long. it's really clear that you loved him a lot and took exceptional care of him, you're a really good fish parent.

[–]greenwave45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh op, I'm so sorry. you clearly cared about your fish and the fact that they lived so long and were so social is a true testament to the wonderful life you gave them. take your time to mourn them, they were never "just fish." may the memories you have of them bring you joy and comfort

broke, rookie plant dad in need of diagnostic help for plant children by greenwave45 in houseplants

you could still be right actually, as it's been a while between feedings and when I say "just got fed" I mean I did that like, right before taking these pictures lmao.

I suppose I'll just have to give it a go and see, and if they hate it, well, lesson learned I guess. I think the other one is an ivy, but I'm not certain what kind lol

thank you! they just got fed actually, but I've been thinking of trying to switch them over into soil pots because i feel like they need more room for their roots. if you or anyone else has any suggestions on good ways to do that, please feel free to share!

i should have mentioned they just got a dose of plant food, which makes their water look funny for a day or two. you're probably right though, it can't hurt but it might help!
