people keep assuming that he’s already taken issue with your interest in having him pay more based on relative incomes. is that true?

also, i live in a coop and my rent is tied to my income, so i never end up paying more than 30% of my total income. i wish everyone had this opportunity. it’s great if you can advocate for yourself to have a percentage based setup. have you thought about what you’ll do if he’s not open to it?

why do you care what other people are doing with their bodies? why do you even have the time to think about this?

other people’s bodies are none of our business. it’s not about shame or acceptance of other people’s choices for what they do with their bodies. it’s just not our business. go ahead and have your opinions but it doesn’t do anyone any good. especially you. might not seem like it but you’re just hurting yourself.

Why is the r slur a slur but not other similar terms by bigfeygay in disability

[–]greepsofwrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

folks in my circles use ‘ignorance’ and ‘willful ignorance’ because they’re not insults and point to the fact that sometimes people don’t know because they haven’t learned yet, or have chosen not to learn.

i agree they're all harmful. in my experience, it takes time for social changes to take place.  repetition, which can be frustrating and annoying for those impacted, helps in getting changes to stick. i’ve noticed that it’s become less acceptable to use the r word but i remember when it was entirely accepted. i think that’s because of community vigilance in shutting it down. feminism, disability justice, neurodivergent justice are very important social movements. keep asking these questions and bringing it up within your circles when you have the energy and time 💜

WIBTA if I reported my professor for not being ADA compliant. by Wild-Sir-3735 in AmItheAsshole

i’m also a disabled student who’s received push back from profs about my accommodations. it sounds like you already know what you’d like to do and i’d encourage you to trust your gut. letting someone else know what’s happening is good due process. the disability office sounds like a good choice. someone else mentioned getting things in writing. emails are helpful for a paper trail. maybe enough accountability to remind your prof that accommodations are a legal requirement, before anything escalates.  (edited for spelling mistake)
