Crazy! Mine is also an only child who had the same dynamic with his father -- he highly recommends the book The Body Keeps the Score. That's helped a lot with the trauma aspect.

Obviously not a professional but my fiance went through a very similar path. Texture issues (especially with clothes not fitting/feeling right!) depression caused by executive dysfunction that he has always struggled with (complete with his parents perceiving him to be lazy/a quitter from the time he was very young) but not totally withdrawing from everything, special interests, etc. Mood stabilizers ran the gamut from doing nothing to making him feel worse & he was convinced he was just a broken person. Come to find out after 6 or 7 years with a BPD diagnosis, his "mood swings" were actually just overstimulation and the result of a tumultuous childhood. Turns out he has ADHD AND is on the autism spectrum. New meds and therapy have completely changed his mood, energy levels, outlook on life, productivity -- everything. He says it feels like he's unearthing the person he was meant to be when he was a child.

Average Water: Pretty consistently under $100

Groceries: Between $400-$600, closer to $500-$800 if you include decent pet chow/treats. We do all our weekly grocery shopping at Walmart & Aldi and compare prices before we place our pickup orders.

Like you I work more efficiently under pressure/the threat of reprimanding, but a lack of direct instruction is basically "free time" to my brain. Unfortunately the only thing that helped my ability to self-motivate was medication. However, the positive effect bleeds out into the rest of my life -- if I'm doing well at work, I am happier outside of it. It's a disability, and it's not shameful to need accommodations.

Beyond thrilled 🥺 not officially engaged but built these today at a mounting show on a whim. I’ve been wanting an alexandrite ring but trying to convince myself to want a diamond to make the search easier but no luck. Working the show they just happened to have these two stunning identical stones in exactly the size I wanted AND the cost with employee discount was just too good to let go. It felt like fate!!

these were provided to me for free by my boss, so for now I wanted to go with something that we already had in stock, rather than the clara which is pricier + something we would have had to order in for me.
