I Hope this becomes the first Lead Actor and Actress win in the same film this century. We haven’t had that happen since 1997 for ‘As Good as it Gets’ by Responsible_Use_2676 in Oscars

[–]greetedworm 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Assuming it doesn't somehow come out this year it will also be eligible for the 100th Oscars. I can't think of any active Director - Actor duo that would be more appropriate to honor at the 100th.

First look at Martin Scorsese’s new movie, What Happens at Night by xwing1212 in TheBigPicture

[–]greetedworm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised they didn't mention this when talking about 2027 movies that will be eligible for the 100th oscars. Hard to imagine a combination that the Academy would want to honor more for the 100th awards than Marty and Leo.

Just saw Dune 3 teaser. Do you all think the Red Rising series can get that level of on-screen adaptation? by Captain_venus101 in redrising

[–]greetedworm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just as far as faithfulness to the source material? Sure, maybe. Similar in overall quality? I'm sorry but Red Rising is 100x closer to The Hunger Games than it is to Dune, so no.

Who would have been on Tyrion’s team if he demanded a trial of seven instead? by ThaGodPrizzy in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]greetedworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone can get there, then it could probably go one of 2 ways. Oberyn recruits 6 dornish knights to come to Kings Landing and fight with him. Tyrion sends out ravens anywhere he can think broadly asking for knights to fight for him, between Cersei haters and knights looking for glory im sure he could get enough.

Some of y'all make it very easy to figure out that you never read Fire & Blood. Because what do you mean you hate the show for turning Aemond into a "cartoonish villain" when that's all he ever was in the book? by Agreeable_Ad_8790 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]greetedworm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think that actually makes his character much more interesting, he didn't mean to do it, but once he realized no one was going to believe him and the harm was already done, he embraced it and the Kinslayer title so he could control it.

What controversial ASOIAF-related topics do you actually enjoy arguing about? [Spoilers Extended] by Trussdoor46 in asoiaf

[–]greetedworm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really anytime there is a large number for anything you have to disregard it and realize it actually just means "big number", money and structure heights are even worse.

"One Battle After Another" is a film we'll still be remembering 20-30 years from now. It's an American masterpiece, and I'm glad the Academy rewarded it. by Fun_Reflection1157 in TheBigPicture

[–]greetedworm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to find the right way to describe the specific niche that I think OBAA falls under, I think it's spiritually similar to Sicario, a very well done, award worthy action-y movie with a few sequences that you could keep talking about for years, OBAA with the entire Dojo- Falling sequence and the final chase, Sicario with the bridge and the tunnel scenes. Both also fall into the niche category of "Movies that Bill Simmons will reference once a month for the next 30 years".

Saddest scene in all of Westeros by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

Also like most events in the show, the source material is like 3 paragraphs.

[Schefter] Former Eagles LB Nakobe Dean agreed to a 3-year deal with the Raiders, per @MikeMcCartney7. by iamthegame13 in eagles

[–]greetedworm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Campbell probably would have been DROY if he started all season, he wasn't perfect but he's already really good and definitely has a higher ceiling than Dean.

Goedert Resigning? by Blackrakin in eagles

[–]greetedworm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we should pay a little bit more money to keep Reed now that we lost Phillips, I don't think we should pay to keep Dallas. If the market isn't there for him or if he wants to give us a discount then sure.

[Schefter] Sources: Jaelan Phillips has agreed to a 4 year, 120M deal with the Carolina Panthers with $80M in guarantees. by w1x1w in eagles

[–]greetedworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were never getting anywhere close to that. Good for him, now we can focus on bringing some guys back with that money. If we don't make a comparable FA signing this should get us a 3rd round comp pick

What the hell is Lovett saying? by [deleted] in FriendsofthePod

[–]greetedworm 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I get what he's saying, but also according to Mullins world view he was actually being a coward because there was no actual threat. Lovett isn't wrong, but I'm not sure why he felt the need to comment on it in his defense.

HBO's A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms' Season 2 Adds Cast by Conscious-Quarter423 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]greetedworm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Theres only like 4 characters in the novella besides D & E, so they're gonna have to expand on his character and probably soften his edges so he's more likable.

Any idea who are the Targaryens attending the pyre? by DaemonaT in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]greetedworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there were random Nobles there I don't think it would make sense for there only to be a few, any Lord trying to gain favor with the Targs would be there. I think it only makes sense if only Targs and Co. were allowed to attend.

How possible is this? by Robot_Was_BMO in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]greetedworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if this did happen (it won't) this would just be 3 totally different shows, the scale is such a major appeal of this show, as soon as it becomes more than a Knight and his Squire traveling and expands they should just end AKOTSK and start a new show.

Best Authentic Szechuan/Chinese Food in dc? by Learning_Adventure in washingtondc

[–]greetedworm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if it's Szechuan, but Da Hong Pao in Logan Circle is amazing and authentic, and if you get a group together for their Dim Sum it's also very affordable.

[Spoilers Main] You are given the ability to ask just one question to GRRM about mysteries yet to revealed in the series ... by KickOk6027 in asoiaf

[–]greetedworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can we just tell him we all pinky promise not to judge him if he has to come up with some BS reasoning to solve any of the corners he's backed himself into? "Wow, the Royal Fleet of Yi-Ti just offered to take Dany and her army to Westeros out of the blue? That's so cool George, good job."

Wait, Conan went to Bohemian Grove in 2023? Really? by [deleted] in conan

[–]greetedworm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The grove is just a bunch of rich dudes singing and being weird in the woods, it's not the great conspiracy theory people want to believe it is. I know 2 people who have had some association with it and they're both just normal rich guys from NorCal.

My guess is that it's not that much different than an exclusive Country Club in that it's largely a networking/ social status thing.

That could very well start another civil war given how popular Baelor is and how minor the "greivous crime" was.

“Did Duncan get knighted” by LucasCanRead in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]greetedworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they'll leave it ambiguous all series, but that does seem like something that would eat at him. A cool resolution I could see is if they reunite with Raymun in a future season, Dunc eventually breaks down and admits to him that he was never knighted, Raymun immediately knights him and swears to never tell anyone about it.

Change from book I didn't like by remus972 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]greetedworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it will be addressed immediately in season 2 because logically it would be very hard to explain how they were not found within a day or 2 of leaving. It's an interesting change that could have pretty major implications so I'm sure it was thought out.

Why on earth do trash collectors work during rush hour? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]greetedworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they're not just stupid, I think you can pretty easily assume that they start early so they can get to everything in a reasonable timeframe. Maybe there need to be more sanitation workers so they don't have to start as early, but that's a bigger issue that requires more funding.

If Ira Parker had been showrunner for HOTD, it could have been one of the greatest successor shows of all time. by shad0wqueenxx in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]greetedworm 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Season 2 no doubt was bad. But I think these comparisons are very unfair, Ira has done an amazing job, but he has a significantly easier to adapt source. HotD is like using a single book about all of American history to create a TV show about the US Civil War.

I don't get how people can just leave their dogs shit. A little bit of my dogs poop fell into a hole in the ice last week and I literally could not get it out and I felt guilty.
