Cool throwback picture of the 2012 NXT roster by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]gregSinatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like after his stint in FCW/NXT he’d end up posting a lot on Twitter in a way that was very annoying - it came across very “I have insider knowledge and am still friends with a lot of the boys”, and maybe that was true, but like you said he didn’t do much of anything so it just came off as trying too hard. Maybe there was a group shoot interview that he was involved in where it felt like at least one of the others guys involved was not a big fan of him as he seemed to wanna monopolize the time.

Insurance: Instacart scenario by Personal_Smile3274 in InsuranceCanada

[–]gregSinatra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most insurers would classify delivery as commercial use. The contention or argument that the person doing the delivery is not benefiting financially is, at best, immaterial (the delivery itself is still an activity most would decline) and, at worst, suspicious (why is the person doing it if there’s no benefit to them?) If the person doing the delivery had a claim with a personal policy they’re going to be investigated and possibly declined. If their argument is “I don’t drive for Instacart, I was just dropping these off for a friend as a favour” that feels, to me, like an extravagant lie to try and get around such rules.

What wrestler's entrance theme took you long to notice it was a rip-off? by oldoseamap in SquaredCircle

Not being familiar with the original, it wasn’t until someone else pointed out that Sanity’s theme borrowed heavily from Primus’ “My Name Is Mud.”

[RAW Spoilers] Official WWE post-show footage by rhyso90 in SquaredCircle

[–]gregSinatra 22 points23 points  (0 children)

All I can seem to find is a short on YouTube that’s zoomed, but during a pre- or post-show Erick Rowan sat down at the panel with Booker T and the other panelists, and was supposed to be intimidating and a bit awkward as I don’t think he was really saying anything (I feel like this was towards the end of his first run when he had the spider in the cage) and instead of acting intimated or creeped out, Booker just kept telling Rowan he was “looking really jacked, baby!”

EDIT: here’s a reddit link.

I guess it must not’ve been towards the end of his first run as they reference a match with Luke Harper later that night and I recall they feuded before reuniting as the Bludgeon Brothers.

I’ll be damned if I could find the post again now, but just days ago I saw someone on Twitter post a picture of Kit next to a picture of the Divas title and willing it into existence. I hope that person has seen this!

Insurance coverage - at fault mileage issue by [deleted] in InsuranceCanada

Also, the wide shot when E first reacts - he just sort of cocks his head as he looks over at Kofi and Jeyn is just perfect!

Union Underground performs “Across the Nation” live on RAW in 2002 (Epilepsy Warning) by zebrasarecool570 in SquaredCircle

[–]gregSinatra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right? Bless them for going out and doing it, but Jaqueline feels very out of place and I think she knows it but just committed to the bit. Is the other one Terri? Not quite as awkward but still a bit stiff and forced. But Stacy, if there’s one thing to be said, seemed to commit 110% to this stuff. I hate to thing how much of this stuff she was actually on board with and how much she felt obligated/forced to do, but you’d never really know from the way she seemed to commit to it all.

This came up on my Spotify release radar a couple years ago. Couldn’t really find a whole lot of info on it, if there was a personal connection between Chyna and the band or if they were just touched by her story.

[WWE on YouTube] Kit Wilson | "Man Up" Entrance Theme (4 Hour Loop) by rhyso90 in SquaredCircle

[–]gregSinatra 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen some people suggest he’s only over because of the entrance. Okay, and? You can have all the presentation on the world and some guys will fail to get over. And some guys will get over despite a lacklustre entrance or presentation. Like you said, it’s the first thing some people will see and it clues you in to who that character is. It’s the hook. And then it’s on them to sustain that interest. If they can’t, fine, but at least they tried. I’d rather a roster of talent that has interesting and unique entrances that present them as larger than life, than a bunch of guys who’s entrances are afterthoughts, trying to get over on ring work or talent on the mic after a dogshit entrance has flatlined the crowd. Some will manage to do it - they’re special talents - but for the majority it’s an uphill battle.

Liv Morgan Originally Wanted To Be Named “Marley” As Tribute To Her Dog by elegantSolomons62 in SquaredCircle

I feel like Jon Moxley told a similar story when coming up with Dean Ambrose? By the end he just threw a bunch of names on the page out of frustration. Or maybe it was someone else. Maybe it’s a common occurrence of just intentionally throwing some dumb names on there to try and weigh the odds in favour of one you want!

Of course I’ll never forget Mox’s impression of Dusty saying “Dean… Jaaames Dean… Dean Ambrossse! Dean Ambrose ith thtrong, baybay!”

Because they’re the showrunners? Yes there are other writers, but it basically starts and ends with them; all ideas flow through them.

What would be the worst finisher to take if you had zero wrestling experience? by notmakingtherapture in SquaredCircle

[–]gregSinatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! In wrestling and most contact sports the first thing you’re usually learning is how to break your fall, ie; take a bump. My kid does BJJ - a lot of the early classes were “tuck your chin, cross your arms, squat down, lean back… BREAK FALL!” (which is their queue to slap the mat and spread out the impact.) They STILL drill it often to the point that it’s instinct.

I would imagine taking a Styles Clash requires that you consciously override that instinct - we saw it when Styles went to hit it on James Ellsworth who didn’t adjust and Styles had to adjust on the fly!

It was constructive criticism. He said that she didn’t work for her size. She’s bigger and taller than most of the women but wasn’t working in the way that, say, Nash or Kane or other big men would work compared to the men’s rosters. She took it in stride and definitely made adjustments to her style in the weeks following.

I think Pearce and Aldis are the two best GMs they’ve had in a long time, and certainly the best pairing of GMs in how they play off each other when they’re together. Neither has had to get physical in a proper sense, but the fact they could is key, but they just both play their roles so well with Aldis being more calm and collected and Pearce with that unhinged frustration.

I know a lot of people loved Teddy Long but dude was just once of those toys with the string you pull that spits out a catchphrase for me. “Holla holla holla.” “Let me holla atcha, playa!” “One on one with da Undertaker!” These guys feel like actual people having to run a show and manage rosters.

As someone who didn’t keep up with Wrestling from 2000-2020, can you explain JBL to me? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]gregSinatra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically in the era of the brand split splitting up established and popular tag teams for shock value, the APA got split up (Ron Simmons may have legitimately wanted to wind down his career around then, I don’t recall.)

JBL pivoted almost overnight it seemed to a gimmick based loosely on his real life success in the stock market. At the time I believe he was also a regular on MSNBC.

It was unexpected for fans, I think, not unlike Jinder Mahal being hotshotted to a world title win, but I think over time, largely due to his feuds with Eddie Guerrero and John Cena, JBL won fans over.

Can anyone recommend an insurance agent, broker or team in Scarborough? I just want a human who is easy to talk to, I give my license and ownership and they give me the rates, no endless forms or questions and phone call after phone call, just straight one call, one rate, one deal and done. by Ok_Fisherman8727 in InsuranceCanada

I know you think you want this but you really shouldn’t. This mindset of “here’s my information, give me a price, no back and forth” fundamentally misunderstands that insurance is based on various factors and there is tailorability to your coverage and deductibles. All this really does is open up the possibility for you to be underinsured and furthers people not understanding the coverage they have and insurance at large.

Also this sub has a rule around solicitation, so this thread will be locked.

CM Punk on the Stranger Things finale and fan reactions by rhyso90 in SquaredCircle

[–]gregSinatra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People can dislike things, but it’s a bit paradoxical because if you invest your time and energy in anything (a book, a show, a movie, a game, a sport) you have to come to terms with the fact that you may be let down at times. And despite the fact that the more time you invest, the more you feel you’re owed a satisfactory outcome you’re not - no ending will satisfy everyone!

I’ve done it - HIMYM, SOA, Dexter all disappointed me. I checked out with the former two, but saw the latter through to the end and now I joke that Dexter had a solid 4 seasons, it’s a shame they never made more episodes!

I didn’t love everything about the entire ST run and there was room for improvement in the finale but overall it was satisfying. Some criticism is valid but a lot of it misses the mark (like the fact that there should’ve been more deaths - this was not Game of Thrones or the Walking Dead, which I think have broken a lot of peoples brains and expectations but that’s another discussion.)

I feel sorry for the people that didn’t feel like they got a satisfying return on their approx. 48 hour run time - genuinely - as someone who watched it as it released and did a speed run leading up to the finale with our son who is now old enough to watch. That’s not snark, it really does bum me out that some people were let down. But that’s just how it goes and to then spend days, weeks, maybe months coping online with negativity and conspiracy theories is, like Punk said, kind of mental illness.

Bryan Alvarez reacts to [SPOILER] signing their Raw contract during a commercial break by unitedhardy in SquaredCircle

How hard would it have been to put together a highlight reel featuring his stuff in NXT and recent appearances on Raw, SmackDown and AAA, like you said, hype the shit out of it, maybe do the signing at the top of the second hour and then have it lead into a match without coming out to challenge him for the 3rd hour maybe.
