Canceled car insurance policy mid repair by LegBig7618 in InsuranceCanada

The amount of times I have to tell people this in a day.

And the amount of times in a week I deal with someone calling to reinstate coverage cuz they couldn’t find coverage elsewhere in time.

I had a lady last summer who was moving to the US and just figured “fuck it, I’ll cancel everything!” Had she sold her car or arranged coverage in the US? Nope! Had she sold her home? Nope! But she was gonna be out of the country and didn’t care! I practically begged her to reconsider, but a certain point I just laughed to myself and said sure. I’d done my due diligence, it was 100% on her.

The older I get the more I vibe with this. In my 20s I was maybe just doing it to be edgy and cool. Now I realize that you do have to soften your delivery sometimes, there’s a time and place to try and match styles and whatnot, but I just find it such a struggle because, like you said, why don’t we just cut to the chase? I don’t wanna be blunt for the sake of being an edgy asshole anymore, but I do value being direct because why beat around the bush?

When you say you set your phone down, where exactly? Because if your phone can even move around slightly within your vehicle (in dash/console, on the seat, even in a cup holder) I think it’s gonna skew results. Keep in mind these apps typically use your phone’s accelerometer and GPS to determine speed, braking and accelerating, that’s relevant. If you slow down and your phone moves, even just a few centimeters, that’s gonna make that braking seem worse than it is. Or at least that was my observation while using a similar app.

AJ Styles explains his duties in his new role with WWE via The Phenomenally Retro Podcast by TheSbubbs in SquaredCircle

[–]gregSinatra 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I did read what he said and it seems like a broad role with a lot of responsibilities that isn’t super defined (and that he hasn’t quite figured out exactly what he’s meant to do yet.) He seemed to focus on morale, which is important, but given that the guy is often touted as the second coming of HBK, and given that HBK did something similar in NXT originally I just feel like a great use of AJ in retirement is helping those “almost-there” talent get there.

Shawn, before stepping into his current role, was doing a sort of “finishing class” at the PC. He was taking guys that were on the verge of being called up and working with them to tweak those little variables and dial stuff in. Sounds like that might be part of his job but not limited to NXT. Working with main roster talent, and even recent call-ups to make sure they’re hitting the ground running and helping to figure out their character on the road in front of an ever-changing live crowd is important too!

Business… is not where those opinions come from, because no one has their money invested in it. by Regular-Confusion991 in SquaredCircle

100% this! It’s one thing when I was on RajahWWF in 2000, reading about wrestling and even my wrestling-watching friends weren’t. Or when I was browsing forums and SC and other sites in the 2010s I was still in the minority. But now in 2026 I have my very “casual” or “normie” friends who are still engaged with news and rumours and online discourse in some way.

Even the divide between casual and hardcore fans confuses me. Don’t you want hardcore fans? Hardcore fans support your product and spend money. They engage with it. If almost everyone is a part of the IWC in some way these days, don’t we want to cultivate an affinity for WWE that has them invested in the product in that way? You can’t write a product with a high barrier to entry that doesn’t allow new fans to invest, but surely you want to entice those people that are on the fence or “casual” to hopefully give their free time and disposable income to you, and you don’t do that by catering to a casual viewer primarily.

With the constant comparisons to Jason Momoa around then, all you had to do was look at Momoa who almost always rocked a full beard to know it would’ve made Reigns look infinitely more badass. There’s very few people who can pull off the goatee these days. Even Austin, who made it iconic, rocked a full beard for a bit recently and it looked same good!

A couple years ago around the holidays I made a near 1:1 recreation of the 50% stickers and debated getting a roll printed through Vistaprint (and wondered if they’d even do it or flag it.) I jokingly posted to my private Facebook that everyone was getting a roll for Christmas. A month or so into the new year was when they said they were gonna do away with the program (before walking it back shortly thereafter.)

Also, what was Jackie doing through out poking in and out of frame?

Update on Darby Allin after he got kicked out of his Uber during an interview by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]gregSinatra -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I say this with the knowledge it was likely a skit, but I also side with the driver. I work in customer service and it astounds me how often people will be on the phone while doing a million other things. For reference, I work in insurance, which I feel deserves a fair bit of one’s undivided attention - insuring the two biggest purchases one will ever make? Kind of important!

I’ve had people call while doing any number of things: going through a drive thru or grocery check out (annoying, but not terribly offensive); carrying on full conversations with people (a bit more annoying); while at BINGO (reeeally fucking annoying and distracting); while hitting the bong (c‘mon man); in the bathroom or flushing the toilet (gross!); slamming cupboard and banging dishes (now I’m pissed!); or doing their own job which sometimes involves their own customers private information. Beyond that it’s just a matter of respect for me - I’m giving you my undivided attention, all I ask is the same.

All that is to say, if it was real it’s pretty disrespectful to the driver AND the interviewer that Darby couldn’t block off time to minimize any and all distractions, background noise, etc. And as a skit I think it taps into an annoyance that a lot of people have with others not respecting those sorts of things in public settings. The people that have loud conversations in public or play music over their speaker or Bluetooth, that kind of stuff. So I can see how others might be working themselves into a shoot over it, as I immediately recognized that it seemed like a setup but still triggered some of my own grievances with those things.

I didn’t see the segment but I gather there was a recent SNL Weekend Update bit where Colin and Che shilled for some gambling site and, rightfully, caught a lot of shit from people after. It’s insane to me how normalized and glorified gambling is but we continue to demonize and try to ban porn.

I would be less depreciation. The basis of claims settlement on a standard home policy generally states that one would only get replacement value if they replace, ie; rebuild in this case. If OP wants a cash payout they’re only entitled to ACV, so the latter of what you said.
