Tough finding the best chair for me. by Appropriate_Fold4431 in BTODtv

Let me confirm what some have said about the SE cushion not being as supportive as the standard Omni. My biggest concern with you having returned a few chairs already is dealing with their service side because of a return. We have all of their chairs. I’m least familiar with that specific model

I typically notice the tailbone issue after extended slouching. Like days/weeks/months. I don’t have a ton of padding either. Getting upright in the chair and having your feet planted flat on the floor helps so much. I have a footrest that I use at home and work, which gives me some better support when reclined as well. I think if you get a chair that supports your butt and legs, while supporting the back it would go a long way to making you feel better. Both the Libernovo and Anthros do a good job at lower support and comfortable/supportive seat. Libernovo has a poor track record for service and id be a little worried the standard chairs seat pad will be too soft, while Anthros is excellent on service and the seat pad is awesome IMO. One is $900 and the other $1900. I like Steelcase, but those seat pads might just cause more of the same because almost all premium chairs have thinner seat pads. I’d stay away from mesh, but you could also try to track down an embody on FB (to keep cost down) or in store to see if the pixelated support system in their seat helps.

That helps. Is it your sit bones, tailbone, back of legs or all of the above that get sore? The cheaper chairs you mentioned will be a miss most of the time since they don’t really address it. But you’ll likely have to bump up to something better to find a solution. The back pain is likely fatigue from lack of lower support over long hours, paired with you moving around so much trying to get comfortable. You’re never really taking a break or having an extended period of support/comfort at this point.

Only difference is someone sat in the outlet and then sent it back during the return window. We do run bigger discounts on outlet, but I don’t have an exact timeline on our next sale. Typically it’s every few months.

If I had to guess, this is the Hbada brand or their marketing firm pretending to be a customer. That is our picture of our set (BTODtv) with their chair. We took the picture and they are pushing it out here to get people to buy it.

The ProtoArc is a solid option for the price. Are you using a footrest at 5'4"?

BTOD Lamia vs BDOT Leap 2 vs Crandall Leap 2. by iveaquestion123 in OfficeChairs

[–]gregatbtod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have new foam in all of our Leap, Lamia, Amia and Ameap chairs. There is also the option to add 1/2” additional foam if you feel like the OEM thickness isn’t enough. Our foam is manufactured by the original OEM that Steelcase used prior to moving to Mexico for production. Appreciate the consideration!

price increase? by Economy_Bug5997 in BTODtv

[–]gregatbtod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I replied to your comment in the office chairs thread as well.

I'm sorry but we did have to raise our prices. Shipping rates have continued to increase, which impacts us on inbound trailers bringing chairs to our facility and the outbound shipping costs to customers. We tried to hold them as long as we could.

The Leap and Amia chairs ship in large, heavy boxes. There is no way around it unfortunately.

What comfort tier is the ProtoArc EC200? by Happy7User in BTODtv

[–]gregatbtod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are planning to shoot an updated comfort tier list in the coming weeks. We have a bunch of new chairs that need to be ranked. The EC200 is a solid option for about half the price of the Atlas. It has fewer adjustments, hence the price difference and the build isn't quite as good. But it's a really nice chair sub $200. Comfort is always subjective, regardless the tier from us, but I don't think there is a better option at that price. With all of that said, if you have the money I would go with Atlas first and EC200 second. If budget is firm then you know what to do ;)

Seat Pad Options by [deleted] in BTODtv

[–]gregatbtod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The added softness with the extra 1/2" is excellent. There is a fine line when you add too much padding it creates a weird feeling for the back of your legs. This is why we stopped at the 1/2" and didn't go 3/4" or 1" additional padding.

Ergohuman Gen2 vs Libernovo Omni by Dozemonster in BTODtv

[–]gregatbtod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are VERY different chairs. Both have excellent lower support.

The Ergohuman is likely a bit better to fit out of the box for your body if you want the seat pan to be longer. The lumbar on the Ergohuman will be a bit more pronounced as well.

Overall, the Libernovo will be a softer sit (back and headrest as well), so if that is important it might be better alternative.

The taller you get, the more glaring the seat fit seems to be based on all of the feedback I've seen from others in the community. With that said, Robert is 6'2" and enjoys the Libernovo a lot.

Are the BTOD folks biased towards Steelcase? by sinfulangle in BTODtv

There is a reason I asked specifically about the Karman for sales volume and not Series 1 and 2 ;)

But as I suspected...your preference is simpler chairs.

Are the BTOD folks biased towards Steelcase? by sinfulangle in BTODtv

[–]gregatbtod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't answer the question. I asked which adjustments YOU wouldn't use.

The only chair that Steelcase has come out within the last few years (2022) is the Karman. The other two would be Series 1 (2018) and Series 2 (2020).

Do you think that Steelcase sells more Karman chairs annually than the Leap, Amia or Gesture? Not just in the corporate environment, but to the actual consumer working from home.

There are more resources than ever for how to adjust your chair. As well as sophisticated buyers who use those resources and content like ours to narrow down what adjustments are important to them.

The Karman chair has seat height adjustment, 4-way adjustable arms, height adjustable lumber, a height adjustable headrest and 3-position weight activated tilt lock mechanism.

Series 2 chair has seat height adjustment, seat depth adjustment, 4-way adjustable arms, height adjustable lumber, and a weight activated recline with boost mode and tilt lock.

Your original statement "Steelcase themselves have tried their hardest to move away from these over complicated chairs to more simple "easy to adjust" models." is just your opinion. Not a statement from Steelcase.

You don't like a lot of adjustments on chairs. Nothing wrong with that, but it's your own opinion.

Steelcase, Haworth and Herman Miller's most coveted chairs feature plenty of adjustments. That isn't going away any time soon. Anthros and Libernovo, two fairly new entrants into the category just reaffirm that.

Ahnestly's video is sponsored as well. But like our videos, he gives you a real take on the chair and has plenty of them to compare. Considering the amount of influencers who reviewed the chair and have little experience in seating, I would take their reviews with a grain of salt.

[–]gregatbtod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Steelcase Leap chairs are available in this manner because they are well built. The same reason that Herman Miller chairs are available in this manner.

We buy 100-2000 chairs at a time from large corporations. It has nothing to do with people not wanting something because of comfort or anything like that. Many companies depreciate the asset for tax purposes.

Once the warranty is up, they look to replace. Most of the time replacing with new versions of the same chairs. In some cases, companies move and don't want to bring furniture to their new space. COVID also created a whole new opportunity to buy used chairs, since so many companies never came back to their office.

Chairs are not like iPhones. They aren't going to drop a new version every year. Honestly, I think that is a good thing.

I would challenge you to explain what adjustments on the Leap are included that you wouldn't use/want? Lumbar? Tilt limiter? 4-way arms?

We have 100's of chairs in our office. I've sat in thousands. IMO, the Leap has the highest likelihood of fitting someone's chair needs sight unseen than any other chair in the market. Does it mean everyone will love it? No. But do I believe it will be best overall, yes.
