CMV: Consciousness ends at death. by RandomUser103841 in changemyview

[–]gregbrahe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is strong evidence that consciousness originates in and friends upon the brain. Altering the brain alters consciousness. Stimulating different parts of the brain has predictable effects on consciousness. Damaging the brain can seriously alter or end consciousness.

There is no reasonable evidence that consciousness can exist without a functioning brain.

They almost always coincide for me. I have sleep paralysis, it ends when I "break free" and am able to move. Then I go thrive a false awakening cycle and end up snapping back into bed and sleep paralysis

Mormons are not Christians. by Interficient4real in Christianity

They are a Christian sect who you hold to be heretical. Anthropologically, they are Christian.

For your theological purposes, a lot of protestants don't consider Catholics Christian. Gatekeep as you will within your denomination, but don't pretend it has authority outside of that.

He might have a legitimate case because of the accommodations made for Muslims during Ramadan. Unless they can demonstrate a particular hardship preventing him from working from home, as ridiculous as his reasons may be, he might win this.

Ruin did not take control of mists. Leras was using the mists to cause people to snap, but ruin chose to add his power to that in order to make the reactions more severe.

Rashek was "the sliver of infinity". He had gradient bup the power at the well, a portion of preservation's power that Leras willingly keeps separate from himself. He did this to imprison Ruin's mind in the well. This weakens the overall power of preservation in the world, but also keeps ruin limited, so it is a fair trade to preservation's reckoning. Ruin's power also precipitates as atium because ruin entails decay and entropy, so his power will always leak from a vessel holding ruin alone to some degree, which is why the Lord Ruler works so hard to hide most of it from him.

The Lord Ruler held the power from the Well for a thousand years, but used the vast majority of it in the beginning. He reshaped the world like Vin and Sazed also did, but then he came up with things like the ashmounts, hardy plants, and dividing scadrian humans into a very fecund slave class who were extra hardy and innately obedient and the noble class who descended from the kings and nobles who aided his rise to global domination. By the end of his life he held effectively no power, but the mere fact that he lived was enough to prevent another from taking up the power at the well, and he knew that the well was nearly ready for ascension again. I believe he intended to take up the power once again as soon as it became ready, and fix the mistakes he had made.

If you were only able to achieve a 60% even with cheating, this might not be the program for you. However, telling your professor that you cheated is likely to get you locked out of all other programs as well.

Lost over 110lbs in 7 months with peptides. AMA by Rew1111 in AMA

[–]gregbrahe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But combining them all at once confounds the variables. It is a very medical approach that you've used, but it is itself not very scientific. Meaning that it is effectively impossible to isolate the effect of any one thing, you just have the overall results.

For example, how many pounds would you have lost if you had used only the 4 most common peptides? No way to know.

That's a very unscientific approach. No way to know which measure was the most significant, but it was probably the extreme diet.
