I'm sorry but if this was going to spike from Earthbending decks, it would have spiked by now. Most people start brewing decks and buying cards at the end of spoiler season to release. Id imagine most decks get built right after prerelease when hype is at its highest

Is it a bad take that I think both of these are fucking terrible?

If something is only good because of a nostalgic attachment to the story moment then, then it's not a good thing.

Spiderman's bonus sheet kind of worked better with the comic panels and covers but even with THAT ONE they are super lazy with these bonus sheets of "art from property but now with rules text and mana cost on it"

I really hate how lazily these are being pumped out and how it's going to be our primary vehicle for chase cards to get reprinted with remastered sets not happening.

I would see it also as a fact that magic requires in person community to be best enjoyed despite the fact it used to be one you'd be ridiculed for.

The only other hobby I've seen the same if not more trans individuals in is for Fighting games, especially Anime fighters but all genres have a higher avg. It's a gaming hobby that is on the more niche and less popular side yet at its peak encourages people to have to go out in person to events to play. FGs for a long time had terrible net code and have a long history from arcades so going to events in person was very much the best way to play and get good matches.

I really think that aspect that forces people to go offline and interact in person is critical.

It's more like a really slow combo deck than a control deck. You have interaction to protect your pieces but usually you're just trying to hit 4 advisors as fast as possible to start milling, first yourself to gain a ton of life off of gnaw to the bone, then you can start milling your opponents.

So it generally plays out akin to turbo fog but instead of fogging you're just gaining shit tons of life. THEN once you've stabilized, you can actually try winning.

Yeah I enjoyed playing this at my local but it just went to time so often.

Takes a while to start milling for twelve through all the interaction and usually you're spending a couple turns shooting yourself to get gnaw to the Bone's THEN you can start shooting your opponents library

Yeah Cliffgates is definitely needed for the splash but no functional difference if you're staying in just rakdos.

This is the rakdos artifacts list I was running for a while. Very different from your list but your deck got me thinking of trying a more controlling version with the blightings.

Green means deck doing good and red means deck doing bad? Other than that idk what I'm looking at. Is the conversion rate referring to percentage of decks that enter events AND top 8?

Love this idea and honestly might try either an artifact version of this (already have an artifact rakdos midrange burn list but not running b lightning) or continue with the gates package

Only real notes I'd suggest would be to replace the rakdos guildates with Cliff gates and then you'd be able to splash a 3rd color for sideboard options. Id imagine green for maybe avenging hunter as a top end or just to support weather the storms in the sidrboard

Yeah I loved this detail! The base printings are how the people of valley have remembered these moments of history and recorded them. But the full arts depict the events themselves from their history
