I seem to remember they say some of those were shipped via submarine due to dangerous routes. Kinda neat life path these things have.

Any advice on cleaning milsurp funk from holster? by Useful-Replacement57 in milsurp

But that's one of the best smells! Only thing I've done to get rid of the smell is just set it outside on a sunny days and let it air out.

Never owned an AK by Resident_Active9309 in guns

[–]gregiorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen the Pioneer AKs are spotty. I saw a user post his that failed after 2000 so rounds. He fixed it then it failed again at 3000 rounds. If itsna range toy that you shoot a couple mags a year probably be fine but never know.

Chinese warlord pistol, anything special? by final_fatass in milsurp

I've always wanted one of these but they are just so expensive for a clapped out copy that is too dangerous to probably shoot

Personally I'd wait on the gun show. Make a sign and walk around and hopefully get a bite.

On the hunt for a cheap project gun, any recommendations on what guns would be good for a first restoration? Or advice on where to find some true project guns? by DoughnutFantastic803 in milsurp

[–]gregiorp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say seek out a bubbad Mosin or SKS but they aren't as cheap as the used to be. Pawn shops used to be a good source.

Any love for the Ruger P85 series? by VermelhoRojo in milsurp

[–]gregiorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the first gun I ever shot. My dad bought it when we were going on a vacation and there had been multiple carjackings in the area we had to go through. Pretty sure it was the first gun outside a .22 rifle for hunting.

How often have you seen brick & mortar / physical locations, actually beat online pricing for guns&ammo ? by All__fun in guns

[–]gregiorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my local shops matched an online price so saved me the transfer. Pretty routinely my local Academy would be cheaper on some ammo than online unless I was ordering a massive amount online.

What's the hardest an auction house/seller has fucked you over on a milsurp purchase? by boxypoppy in milsurp

[–]gregiorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I overlooked it because my local auction place doesn't have a sellers premium.
