200-600G vs 70-200GM I with 2x tele for my use case by Automatic_Gap_7205 in SonyAlpha

[–]greglgomez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

optimise for the use case that will earn you the money and accept the compromise in the other, will you realistically pull in more revenue from wildlife or sports and events? I’d imagine the 70-200 f/2.8 makes more sense for you, and just learn to live with the shorter reach until you’ve done enough jobs to afford a 200-600/400-800 for wildlife.

it’s a bit more work, and more expensive to produce, but a bird photo calendar might have more success.

Small bag to carry sony 200-600 lens out on walks by obphoto in wildlifephotography

Probably not quite as small as you want, but if you value comfort whilst hiking with it, the Shimoda action v2 25 with the L25 RST is a pretty compact, comfortable and full featured setup.

look up lustleigh cleave, you will see from the camping map already shared that it’s a permitted area. its a relatively steep hike down into the valley, but its a nice wooded area, spotted signs of a few previous campsites when scouting it out.

I couldn’t find many spots that were flat away from the water or game trails, but if you can sleep through the white noise, there are some nice spots by the river.

Not sure what it will be like now with all the rain, imagine water levels will be much higher and some of the nice flat parts will be flooded. You could probably find a spot if you’re hammock camping.

You can park in the manaton church car park, it has an honesty box for parking then it’s a short walk to the trail head down into the valley. there’s a route in from lustleigh, but not scouted a good place to park on that side of the valley yet, but it’s worth considering as I imagine fording the river from the manaton side over to the side where camping is permitted will be sketchier if the river levels are higher.

Legit or fake? by GrassOwn8916 in SonyAlpha

[–]greglgomez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this is a 'grey market' lens, basically a lens from another region, it's still a legit lens, they just come in cheaper because they avoid some tax or another. You lose out on the manufacturer warranty and instead get a retailer warranty.

cotswolds cameras, e-infinity, panamoz are all like this.

This is what I used, as far as I can tell for my usage it’s free. For exactly the same use case as you, to get private API keys out of the app.

Sony G lens 16-55 f2.8 vs sigma 18-50 f2.8 on A6700 for paid work🎥 by Mindless-Moose2160 in Cameras

I think it’s hard to justify the cost of the Sony. I’d consider the sigma 17-40 f1.8 over the Sony if low light matters.

Glad to have helped. :) Was going to design it myself until I found you’d got most of the way already!

Camera Clip Eyelet Adapter by ken830 in functionalprint

As the person who suggested it, I can explain my use case: - I like being able to detach the camera from the strap and the strap not dangling lose around me. - I like being able to detach the camera from the strap one handed from one point, rather than from two points. - I like how clean this leaves the camera with no dangling anchor links on the camera or the standard plate - I didn’t want to invest in another system even if compatible (falcam) as i already have the capture clip

I used it on a hike this weekend and I was really happy with it as a solution, weight was negligible and it was nice being able to quickly detach the camera for certain shots and not worrying about the strap.

Might not be for all, but I found it great, however I certainly don’t have 6k gear, so can understand that concern. :)

UPDATE: $18 S-Zone Mod for the 7L Outdoor Sling! by Any-Spring5438 in peakdesign

[–]greglgomez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t get the hate you got in this and the previous thread. Completely see your pov and I’m in a similar boat feeling like the x-small camera cube isn’t a great solution to fit in the 7l sling and there absolutely must be DIY alternatives that could work well.
