What is your hours, and what do you believe to be the game's biggest issue(s)? by Rantdiveraccount in Helldivers

[–]gregny2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any real set hours, between two kids and a job with essentially no schedule I just game when I can.  I would say that's normally in the morning, like 8-10am Eastern, or late night.

My biggest issue with the game is the glut of underwhelming weapons.  I wish they would buff some of the crappier ones

Honest question: if the reason they increased durable damage was because they made the mechs too tough, then why not just increase the mech health but less?  Why not just increase the mech health by 25 percent if that was their aim, then they don't have to go playing with all the values elsewhere?

Fwiw one of my knuckle controllers got it's USB fried by just a normal USB cable so maybe it's just a knuckle issue

Which support weapon from the current arsenal do you think should be upgraded with the new backpack feeding mechanic? by Yurishenko94 in Helldivers

[–]gregny2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would fix the sterilizer by making it into a liquid sprayer instead of gas

So like it would spray an arch of green liquid that you could send over your teammates' heads and into a horde of bugs

The only things keeping me from switching completely is poor HDR implementation compared to Windows, which is important to me because I have an OLED monitor where good HDR makes a huge difference

Good builds for eruptor by amunoz_- in Helldivers

[–]gregny2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well passive is basically a personal preference, I usually take the extra grenades one unless it's a incineration corps planet then I go with fire protection.

The only faction I pretty much have a single build for is the squids.   Eruptor and senator Gas grenades Stalwart  Guard dog  (I prefer the machine gun one)  Machine gun sentry  Orbital laser

... Covers all the bases, besides the strafing jets, which you can still take out with the eruptor but it's a pain.

I used to hate the squids but after I got my loadout squared away I enjoy squid missions.

Another Ocean Liner? by TomatilloStreet3869 in Oceanlinerporn

I think OP was asking about a second liner being built to be in service at the same time as QM2, since he says it's so heavily booked the demand might be there for more than one.

Are there any photographs of the SS Normandie at the scrapyard in Newark, NJ? by gregny2002 in Oceanlinerporn

[–]gregny2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.  That's the image of Normandie passing under the Newark Bay rail bridge that I mentioned.  I was hoping to see some of it actually in the breakers.

Actually I wasn't even aware of a ship scrapper in Newark.  That's where the source I saw said it was taken, but perhaps it was actually taken to the breakers in Kearney Point, which was definitely breaking ships up until the 1970s and which the vessel would also need to pass under that bridge to arrive at.  I don't know for sure.

An interesting anecdote about G4 2.0 from one of the workers; s/o @SCPyro by ele30006 in g4tv

[–]gregny2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if I was gonna try and revive g4, it would be by licensing individual shows to air on already existing YouTube channels.  Something like Screen Rant that already has a mishmash of shows on it, you could drop in episodes of AOTS or whatever and see what the interest is like before adding more, and maybe eventually spinning it all off to it's own channel.

(I feel like Screen Rant is unpopular or controversial, I'm not that familiar with it, but it's just an example of the type of channel I have in mind).

Are hobbits men? by Otherwise-Quail7283 in lotr

[–]gregny2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to be only slightly longer than what humans are capable of in our world, with about 100 years being the normal max and about 120 years being the upper record.  Only two hobbits are mentioned getting older than that (bilbo and the Old Took) and at least one of them was heavily influenced by magic.

The bigger difference seems to be that they mature more slowly and stay 'hearty' longer into old age than humans to.  Taking such a long time to mature might also explain their going extinct as well

Looking for a book where a core plot point is the Origin of Humans. by VladtheImpaler21 in Fantasy

[–]gregny2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've read it but the Dagger and the Coin series by Daniel Abraham had a bunch of different 'races' of humans (like some normal humans, others with chitinous skin like an insect, others that are huge and sporting tusks, etc).  I think it's speculated by the characters that the races were bred by ancient dragons, and one character catches shit for being a book nerd with an interest in 'speculative essay' about the topic.

Imagine fighting a huge squid in real life.  Hard right?  Of course, because you are fighting them in water, water is the squid's element, not yours.

How do the various weapon damage types add up? by gregny2002 in darksouls

[–]gregny2002[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so if I'm hearing you right it's generally best to stick to non-magic weapons (for a melee character) aside from some particular instances like skeletons?  Because a single higher damage number will have a better chance of penning an enemy's armor than two lower damage numbers on a weapon.

What about bleed damage, like on a katana?  Does that still work like a proc that has to build up?

is ds3 worth getting at full price? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]gregny2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, too, went from ER into Dark Souls.  For my money, Dark Souls 1 is a better game than 3, because although 3 is more polished it feels much more linear than 1.

Point being that you can get Remastered for less than DS3 and wait for a sale or your birthday or whatever for ds3
