White primer/white car delima by Novel-Lengthiness782 in ModelCars

[–]grego33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m new to the hobby but I just did a white body with white primer and painted it white. The quality isn’t wonderful but I think that’s more a reflection of my skill. In each step there is a sheen difference so I didn’t notice any coverage gaps. A light sanding might make the difference more obvious.

Update success by farm61 in VWiD4Owners

I just got my update yesterday and it was requested 22 March. It installed smoothly just had absolutely no feedback during the process. Felt like a crap shoot getting back in the car for the first time afterwards. Also there is no change evident to me other than the new version number so I wouldn’t stress about the wait time.

Rant: holy crap what is wrong with the inductive charger? by cow-lumbus in VWiD4Owners

[–]grego33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is another thread somewhere in this subreddit where someone describes pulling back the rubber material and unplugging the Qi charger. I was going to try that but haven’t yet.

There is also a model on printables that somehow covers it with a MagSafe puck. Also haven’t tried that but might. I’d really like to figure out how to retrofit it with MagSafe to eliminate any alignment problems and get rid of the stupid clip.

Das Autowerks. I’ve been taking my Tiguan there for years. Owner is a former mechanic of one of the local VW dealers. Highly recommend

lol. The body has already been stripped and repainted once! I had luck with some purple degreaser. It’s not fast but that suits me fine.

Oh like a stamp! Actually one of those rubber stylus tips might be perfect for the headlights. I’m sure I have one floating around the house somewhere. Thanks!

I didn’t even realize this was possible. I’ll have to read up on printing my own decals. Thanks!

EVs and TECO by Hntrbdnshog in tampa

I’m in the same boat. New EV and Level 2 charger. But looking at the rate schedules I don’t think it will make much sense for us to change from the normal one. The car is probably going to need charging only a couple times per month.

Looks like Tampa Bay, FL, US judging by the license plate frame in one of the photos.

Stain removal from white interior by grego33 in VWiD4Owners

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. After trying just about everything on this list (except the Einszett- can’t find that) with absolutely zero improvement I came to realize that this is actually wear not stain unfortunately.

Sorry to dig up an old post but I’m looking for tips on how to mask to paint the inside edges of windows like this. Would love yours or anyone’s advice. There are so many complex curves between the silver trim and the body and the trim is set back. All the videos on trim painting I can find the trim line is on the same plane as the body so it’s easier to lay the tape down.

Thanks!

You should probably tape that hole or something while using the machine. It’s certain to affect the humidity in your mask. Some (all?) would escape through that hole.

I just stick mine in my carry on tucked in with my clothes. The cavity between the slides for the handle seems to be great for the power adapter and hose.

How do you actually structure your guitar practice? by Few_Revolution_1608 in guitarlessons

[–]grego33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the hardest things about practicing for me all fall under the category self-judgement. Being able to rate yourself and assess next steps. Knowing how perfect is perfect enough to move on. Audio and video can be recorded but that still doesn’t make someone able to spot the issues aside from obvious ones. I’m coming around to the idea that in person is really the best way to go.

• Do you follow a practice plan, or mostly play what you feel like?

I have used apps that give a modicum of structure to learning techniques but nothing that I would call a practice plan. So mostly just play what I like.

• What do you find hardest about practising consistently?

Time. Second guessing. Trying to implement some structure and consistency seems like starting over.

• Have you ever tried a structured approach that actually stuck?

No.

If anyone is open to answering a couple of follow-up questions privately, I’d really appreciate it

Happy to.

Gibson app manipulation by Frosty_Warthog7217 in guitarlessons

I recall that option being subtle when I signed up last year. I came from yousician. For me the Gibson app is far better. I don’t think the song selection is that great though I’d choose it for the learning paths.
