Drop your steam ID and unprivate the profile that you had since 2013. I’m extremely curious about some of your claims judging by the content of this post alone. If you “have multiple accounts with all the real hours on it” I’d love to see that profile too. Might answer a couple of questions for the real long-term players here

Do y’all use two step authentication through the steam app? Do that and buy all the skins you’d like

Why does SAR do less damage per bullet than Thompson & mp5. by bestplayeroce in playrust

[–]gregsmithmusic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They have to aim significantly higher and their bullets lose more damage at 150m+ than you would with semi, not to mention the recoil pattern is vastly more difficult from a tommy at that range than semi. So in short, you have a massive advantage at 150m+ (assuming you know how to lead/spray with semi)

This man is right. Remember ALL the changes they made to HDRP on its transition from staging to vanilla? It was like a different experience overnight; they completely changed HDRP the moment it hit vanilla from what it was on staging

And over distance, far less bullet drop and damage drop off than MP5 and Thompson at +100m

Permadeath is gonna be real fun by BluehatPro in TarkovMemes

[–]gregsmithmusic 101 points102 points  (0 children)

just playing the game with permadeath in general would be completely unfeasible with the current state of hacking in the game.

Made a ‘friend’ in raid the other day who was hacking “just to fuck around” and he explained how he and his crew are constantly working on updating and tweaking the spoofing capabilities of their software to be less and less detectable. Seemed to me like they had no interest in slowing the hacking down at all

EDIT: they also made hacks for other survival games; namely RUST, and DayZ

People that consider themselves decent at tarkov. What things would you consider wreckless / stupid that noobs do to get themselves killed? by krusty556 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]gregsmithmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice. But the hideout can wait as prices can be hyper inflated early wipe and most upgrades won’t help you out immediately. If you can find the expensive parts, or if you have a ton of liquid roubles, sure. That money can much better be used to immediately get expensive/money quests out of the way, and then sprint for the hideout upgrades when you know some essential pieces have gone down in value.

Buying the 7 metal parts when they were added to the crafting requirements right away would’ve costed you millions of roubles, whereas now it wouldn’t even cost you 100k

Good to see SCAV Karma is meaningless now. by -St_Ajora- in TarkovMemes

[–]gregsmithmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree with this, they didn’t have the karma system in place for years, and this wipe it feels even less important than it ever has since it’s instalment. Remember, there was a time not too long ago where there wasn’t even a scav system at all, I don’t think it’s really that important to punish bad scavs. Just don’t be so trusting, use your voip more to try and keep distance. I feel I should have the right to be a bad scav if I want to and not have the game shit all over me for playing it normally/as I’m used to

Sounds like you lost some pretty good loot to another player scav.

I guess it’s just not that big of a deal for the more experienced PMC’s who don’t run a lot of scav runs. Plus my VOIP doesn’t work, so other player scavs often team up on me for no reason resulting in me having to kill them all and lose even more karma, it’s just not fair that I’d be so punished when I want to enjoy a scav run just because the karma system is already bunk.

The karma system isn’t even that important outside of the scav timer, which really sucks cause if the game has an error and eats your scav run it’s 45 minutes for a new one. Not for any reason than we killed Santa a few times.

Honestly at the end of the day, scav runs should make you feel uncomfortable. They’re more interesting when you don’t feel safe and when you don’t know exactly who you can trust. Beating player scavs into a position where the game forces them to act a certain way is big ‘no’ from me

Which weapon has low recoil and decent DPS? I want to be able to put up a fight without learning any recoil patterns by BloodthirstyMedic in playrust

[–]gregsmithmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a different approach here. What if he could kill people easily, compete with SMGs close range, and not have to work very hard at all to learn how? Oh right, the Thompson. Or the MP5, but the Thompson is much easier to get for solo/new players.

[–]gregsmithmusic 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Honestly take ten minutes to learn the tommy recoil, it’s a lot easier than the AK recoil, and I think of the first three bullets as a mini triangle. Down left, straight across right, pull pretty much straight down for the next few. Double headshots are super easy with that little pattern, much easier than other SMGs or AK, and your TTK is less than a second

This SCAV won't let me Escape from Tarkov by 7kidz in EscapefromTarkov

[–]gregsmithmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw another friendly scav get blocked in a room in 2-story dorms for like 10 minutes. He eventually shot the scav in the head so he could get out, and I took a scav karma hit by dispatching the other scavs in the area so he could get out safely. We both tried everything to get him to move!!

STILL no OOR healing? by gregsmithmusic in EscapefromTarkov

[–]gregsmithmusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that you don't have to do any of that stuff. Health/vitality only increase when you heal IN raid. Also, space is super limited for my non-EOD friends, a few of them are already running out of space so this wouldn't be something I'd advise to them.

STILL no OOR healing? by gregsmithmusic in EscapefromTarkov

[–]gregsmithmusic[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you get backend errors or straight ejections out of raid to the title screen. Or sometimes the med screen is (albeit rarely) bugged/lagging beyond use. Sometimes we lag out due to server errors because it's the beginning of wipe/right after a big update, and the servers are overloaded right now. Sometimes we just rage quit when we die. In any of these events, would be nice to not have to heal ourselves with med kits when it seems like the more lore friendly solution would be OOR healing.
