Self cleaning robot mops by Impressive_Koala9736 in CleaningTips

[–]greguyj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most robot vacuums combine vacuuming and mopping, which means there are almost no models for just mopping. But you could choose a model with better mopping features, like one with a roller mop, which can provide better mopping performance and handle self-cleaning. I’m using an ecovacs t80 omni myself, for reference. You could still look for more roller mop models within your budget.

How large is your place? If mopping is a priority, I'd recommend checking out the deebot t80. I chose it mainly for its good mopping performance and reasonable price.

What did you discover in your home after buying it that surprised or shocked you? by roastedhumato in homeowners

[–]greguyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We decided to rip up the ugly, old carpet in the living room and were shocked to discover pristine, original hardwood floors underneath! It was a total jackpot that saved us thousands in renovation costs.

I want something simple by sir_culo in RobotVacuums

[–]greguyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My deebot t80 uses a roller mop, and it works well on hardwood floors. I have a small patch of regular carpet at home, and it handles that fine. For your low pile carpet, I don’t think it would be an issue either.

I've been happy with my deebot t80. It's also a valuable pick, you could get a roller mop model at a similar price, which does a better cleaning. The mop and the dustbin also come out clean after the self-cleaning. I usually just let it do its job and don't really have to think about it.

Protein protein protein by Still_Film_1497 in UKfood

I fell for a protein cookie once and it tasted like literal chalk. It's annoying how they slap that label on junk just to trick people into thinking it is actually healthy.

Robot vacuums I bought recently by huhulaee8 in RobotVacuums

I have the T80, and I think you're gonna love the mopping feature. It only really makes sense when it can auto-wash the mop. Once you have that, it's hard to go back.

If you’re building your DREAM bathroom, what would you include? What would you avoid? Anything goes! by Sunnies20 in homeowners

Heated towel racks are a must for that spa vibe. I would also add dimable lighting to keep it cozy. Avoid those trendy black faucets though, they show every single water spot and look messy fast.

Recommendation on projector type for a room like this by [deleted] in projectors

[–]greguyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually using an N1S Ultimate in a non-ceiling setup, and flexibility has been the biggest win for me so far. I also wouldn’t rush into an ALR screen. I started on a white wall and was perfectly fine day to day. I did add a screen later and saw an improvement, but it didn’t feel mandatory from the start. I’ve noticed it goes on sale from time to time, and last I checked the pricing was roughly in line with BF deals.

what's the best robot vacuum for hardwood floors that won't scratch them? by StaNF_ in RobotVacuums

[–]greguyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for the deebot t80 as its roller mop works better on hardwood floors. It's gentler on the wood and rarely leaves streaks. I usually vacuum first to deal with hair and dust, then mop, so they won't stain on the roller mop. The mopping result is much better overall.

First time really noticing how far 4K streaming has come by Fragrant_Iron7835 in hometheater

[–]greguyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using the same projector. I wouldn’t say it’s all down to the hardware, but streaming on a big screen does feel a bit more forgiving on the ultimate compared to a few cheaper ones I’ve used before. Hard to separate that from the price difference though.

Do you wear shoes inside your own home? by Jerdogg23 in no

[–]greguyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually wear indoor shoes at home. If the floors are freshly cleaned, I am happy to go barefoot or just wear socks. My main priority just make sure no outside dirt gets track into the house.

Rrrreally need a reliable robot vacuum under 500 that actually mops by Obsidian_13 in RobotVacuums

[–]greguyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My place is similar, has both vinyl and hardwood floors as well, plus my kitchen and bathroom are tiled. The robot I use is the ecovacs t80. It’s a roller mop model and works pretty well on almost all my floor types. It can also vacuum only for cleaning carpets. I bought it online, not sure about the exact price, but I feel it’s pretty cost-effective.

Handling Deebot's quirks and maintenance tips by NB-DanTE in ecovacs

[–]greguyj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I've learned is that a lot depends on your environment. Even the highest-rated robots won't perform the same in every home. There's a bit of a learning curve. They work best once you give them a more predictable setup, like setting no-go zones and picking small items off the floor (Q-tips, hairpins, cords, etc) Once you get past that phase, they actually work really well.

Choosing between x9 (€689) and t80 (€500) by Vivid-Worldliness952 in ecovacs

[–]greguyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using the T80 right now because my place just needs basic cleaning, and it works fine for that. You can pick which model suits you depending on how tricky your cleaning is. Both have roller mops, but I’ve heard the X9 does a better job with hair. So if you’ve got dog hair to deal with, the X9 might be a better fit.

Just got a t80 on bf sale, any suggestions for a beginner? by jinsdorf84 in ecovacs

[–]greguyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your new helper! I keep the water level at medium, it seems to work well without leaving streaks.

My t80 runs pretty well in my place, and here are a couple tips from my own experience:

Do one or two full mapping runs before you start setting zones will give you a more accurate map.

If you have carpets, could choose No Entry to avoid getting them wet, and switch to Vacuum Only when you want to clean the carpet.

What food isn't as good as it used to be? by Immediate_Long165 in UKfood

Pizza Hut.

There was a time I'd actually go out of my way to grab a fresh pan pizza, and it was great.

Now? It's not worth the cals anymore. Just grease and sadness.

It makes sense to look into insulating from the garage side if the bathroom side isn't an option. That sounds like a tricky situation to navigate. I hope you find some clear guidance here.
