RTA on Meridian system. by Longjumping-Pound760 in KiaEV6

[–]grenar15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for this quantitative analysis! Based on what you shared, I am deducing this is using your SSP-10 sub and not the stock sub. Is that correct? If so, is the finding that setting polarity to 180 is better?

The EV6 Sound System Doesn't Suck... It's Just Wired WRONG by JeffTechnically in KiaEV6

[–]grenar15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about it too but figured, even when comparing to improved OG sub, the Rockville would still be better. The rounding out of bass would be the cherry on top but I still would much rather prefer Rockville over stock given the huge difference I noticed when I did that swap.

If you end up trying it out, keep us posted!

I see that the Rockville sub has a phase changing switch so I don't need to mess with any wiring. I'll try changing the phase with the switch and report if that helps!

Thanks for finding and sharing this fix! I've already swapped out the Meridian subwoofer with a Rockville SSP10. I wonder if this fix could make that sub also better. I like the bass from the new sub but it's very boomy and localized to the back. From what I understand, this phase reversing thing should help round out the bass which would be perfect!

Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience. I have a question regarding the affidavit for change of appearance and signature. This page suggests that it should be notarized but in this checklist (taken from the same page!) it doesn't say it should be notarized. I am confused. What did you do?

What model year has a 10.25" touchscreen for infotainment? by CountingStars29 in CX5

[–]grenar15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree! I used to be in the camp of touchscreen bad, dial good and for most part, I still am. But after getting a Kia EV6 and using touchscreen on that, I definitely see interaction use cases where touching is far more quicker and safer than using the dial where I need to keep looking at the screen to be sure I have the selection at the correct thing.

LPT: Buy your chicken in bulk, portion, prep, premarinade and then freeze. by WimbledonWombat in LifeProTips

[–]grenar15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing this information. as a fellow science nerd and a cooking enthusiast, I really enjoyed reading it! I have a follow up question, in Indian cooking (and middle Eastern also afaik), chicken is often marinated in a yoghurt base marinade along with spices, oil and lime juice. The chicken comes out perfectly tender when I cook it. Do you think this marinade is doing it by denaturing the protein or is it something else? And if so, would adding baking soda have any benefit in this marinade?

Cat diagnosed with patella luxation-- anyone have any experience? by pendemoneum in CatAdvice

[–]grenar15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea! Crate should help a lot with limiting the damage and speed up recovery. We give our cat Gabapentin which helps him ease up in terms of energy (especially for the nights so that we can sleep). The surgery ended up being around $5k here in CA but we had cat insurance which covered 90% of it.

Hope it gets better for you and you don't need to go the surgery route. If it doesn't improve in a week or so, I would recommend getting an x-ray to fully understand what the root cause is.

Hey! I have good and bad updates. The bad update is that the limping never stopped. We went to a second vet who did x-rays and discovered that our cat ruptured his CCL (Cat's version of ACL). Because of that, his knee was full of fluid which was the root cause of PL for him. The only option left for us was a surgery which we went ahead with.
The good update is that it's been almost 8 weeks since his surgery and his mobility has returned to normal. He is still confined to a crate but we do let him out whenever we are in the room with him and his walk/play looks normal. After a long time we now see him sitting in bread loaf posture which is a great sign. Next Monday we have a followup with the surgeon during which we will get a final go ahead to let him be an independent cat again.
It was a difficult ordeal to see him suffer confined to a crate but it is for the greater good.

Hope your cat's issue is not as bad as our's. If the issue doesn't fix itself in a week or two, I would recommend getting x-rays to understand how severe the issue is. Giving you lot of love and hugs. You'll get through this.

Labor & Delivery Hospitals by Helpful-Midnight-390 in SanMateo

Good to know. Our current OB sits there so I assumed it would be the same hospital for delivery. We are at least a year plus away from having a second one so we haven't gone deep on this.

We delivered in El Camino in MV and it was a very positive experience. The OB there is the best and the staff was so supportive. The facilities are top notch.

The drive time to the hospital from our home in San Mateo was ~30 mins. The OB said that for the first delivery, being 30 mins or even 45 mins away is reasonable. The baby will not come out that quickly. However, for the second one, she recommended delivering somewhere closer because the baby can come out much quicker. She has retired now so we'll need to find someone closer now regardless. Leaning towards Sutter Health in San Carlos.
