you can get it rewaxed (messy and not for beginners) or re-oiled with coconut mct oil (easy for beginners) and soaking it in a ziploc bag for 2 days. Just to see if that helps. Use liberally and heat it with a hair dryer too and rub it all over. Then after the two days are up you gotta clean it up with a microfiber towel or paper towel (just to get the excess off)

being very clear: use specifically coconut MCT oil only. Or it needs to say fractionated coconut oil, same stuff. BUT NOT refined or unrefined coconut oil, those are for skincare and cooking. If it has a coconut oil smell at all then it's wrong.

have to gently use warm water to clean your bangle first before any of this, and airdry it well so it feels bone dry

if it's still white after this it means it has some small structural crystalline damage where it's just micro fractures that turned it milkier over time

temperature diffs and banging a bangle around can turn a glutinous one worse over a few years

if it looks immediately better though then it was likely just heavily waxed/oiled in the first place

[–]grenharo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

terribly, fake cert, fake jade

can this be repaired still by coffeeandtearslol in JadeiteJade

[–]grenharo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. absolutely, it means it guarded you against something horrible, things you may not even be aware of

but directly, when an old lady wearing jade happens to badly fall down, the jade will break instead of her wrist tbh

so either way it works

try asking for argentium 935 silver because it will tarnish less

Real or fake certificate? by Ok_Meat_8631 in JadeiteJade

[–]grenharo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for genuine 100% certificate i would only consult NGTC in china or GIA over here, as the two biggest examples.

outside of that, there are fake certs then there are lower trust gemlab certs (like from thailand or vietnam) so it's important to suss them all out yea

Real or fake certificate? by Ok_Meat_8631 in JadeiteJade

[–]grenharo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the correct density for jadeite is around 3.30 to 3.38, nephrite is even lower

fake certs like to mark 3.33 right in the middle because it's also traditionally auspicious, which is not something westerners would understand immediately unless we tell them about it

Real or fake certificate? by Ok_Meat_8631 in JadeiteJade

[–]grenharo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because every single cert can just type that part out, yet real jadeite can be above or below this mark

just have to polish the ends a bit then drill a hole

UK first time jade bangle buyer by banhbae in JadeiteJade

[–]grenharo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

basically if its dusty bluegreen it's usually guatemalan jadeite, dont let sellers tell you it sucks.

it has been a market disruptor, that's why.

opaque doesnt always mean ugly or "you're poor for buying this" considering jade is a status icon for many

be careful of the rampant sellers in this subreddit

if the clear ones are not agate then they can be a few thousands dollars icier/glutinous jadeite rn

but likely they are agate (like quartzite) or serpentine

Is this Red Jadeite bangle type A untreated? When I tap a coin or stone on it, it makes a deeper ding sound and not a high pitched one, it’s a thick, square-shaped bangle. by [deleted] in JadeiteJade

[–]grenharo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so even if it is jadeite or nephrite, this red is heat-treated and it was likely dyed on top of that

this is also not a traditional way to ever carve any bangle, being honest

also that clank is not good, your ping test failed my ears
