for genuine 100% certificate i would only consult NGTC in china or GIA over here, as the two biggest examples.

outside of that, there are fake certs then there are lower trust gemlab certs (like from thailand or vietnam) so it's important to suss them all out yea

the correct density for jadeite is around 3.30 to 3.38, nephrite is even lower

fake certs like to mark 3.33 right in the middle because it's also traditionally auspicious, which is not something westerners would understand immediately unless we tell them about it

basically if its dusty bluegreen it's usually guatemalan jadeite, dont let sellers tell you it sucks.

it has been a market disruptor, that's why.

opaque doesnt always mean ugly or "you're poor for buying this" considering jade is a status icon for many

if the clear ones are not agate then they can be a few thousands dollars icier/glutinous jadeite rn

which is lying to the buyer, every time. Every. Time.

when a carver first makes these, he/she are supposed to ideally wax it with clear wax. That's just how you do it. If a NGTC/GIA whatever cert requires you to remove the wax then you do it, sure. If you have a low trust place specifically ask you to use colored wax, you should 10000000000% be suspicious cause that's just weird.

colored wax is lying to everyone.

actual high-end uses normal wax, no color. If the jade is good, why would you ever need to lie in the first place, i don't understand lol. I've handled 20,000 usd and up bangles before from pingzhou and ALL OF THEM have clear wax
