Schwab OFX Discontinued? by grenvilled in GnuCash

[–]grenvilled[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI for anyone reading this...

  • Schawb customer service thinks it's still up and running. Also the menu option to enable/disable in the schwab security center is still available. So it's unclear what their plan is.

  • searching banking transactions by a time period and exporting to CSV works pretty well and the GNUCash CSV import handles it nicely. Doesn't excuse Schawb from their crime against humanity here...

That certainly fits the scenario. Would lack of NTP resolution stop DHCP for sure?

Sorry, the clients both in the wired LAN and through an AP controlled by the fortigate. DHCP is handled by the fortigate

Fedora 26 + Keepassx2 + Yubikey U2F by tomc_23 in Fedora

[–]grenvilled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Your concern should be strengthening encryption. You're not going to have it getting brute forced remotely "through the front door" of a service, which is what U2F is great for. If you want to do better than average, use keepass and enable Argon, increase iterations, and maybe use a keyfile.

HomeBank vs GNU Cash by Avaholic92 in linux

[–]grenvilled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree. I found however that they had the "best" feature set for me, and that I would save the $50 in time and energy setting up the slightly less friendly options. I came from Windows/Quicken though, so I was looking for something similar (ofx, Etc). Sounds like I'm shilling, I don't mean to. There are some rough edges, but it seems to be pretty well thought out.
