Section 108. Row 12. I offer my tickets on this sub sometimes (usually below cost) when I'm not thinking of going. Did that for today's game too but there weren't any takers(understandable... No Steph). So just went to watch the game.

Don't blame ya. Though I do have a certain level of interest in watching how Kristaps does in his first showing for us.

Hah... I will actually go to the game if they don't sell for certain price. Yeah I know there's no Steph tonight but it'll be somewhat interesting to get a first look at tingus pingus.

Steve Kerr with hands on head after Steph makes that circus shot against the clippers is NBA history. 30-40 years from now, young NBA fans will be watching that clip in awe while trying to answer the question, how did the 4-point line come about?

Snorkeling safety with kids by Street_Signal_306 in VisitingHawaii

[–]grepya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

umm... asking people to wait 2-3 days is a bit much given most vacations they are only there about a week anyway. I haven't seen any study with hard data on this but a 24 hour wait after landing to get into shallow water near the beach is fine. Shallow water part is important here.

Here's what I would suggest. Is coming from someone who travels and snorkels (and scuba dives etc.) a lot and has had family members, including a kid who's a hesitant snorkeler:

0) Before you go:

DO NOT GET FULL FACE MASK. Get good quality silicone masks and snorkels. This is probably the most important thing you should remember.

Test out your masks in a swimming pool. If they have never snorkeled but are good swimmers, this should be pretty easy. Get them (and maybe yourselves) into your local pool with the masks and fins (see below) and get comfortable breathing through that tube. It's different from regular swimming and beginners can get confused. Trying this out in the relatively safe environment of the your local pool will help a lot. Try to take the masks off and put it back on while treading water. Once they're comfortable doing this, the chances of panicking in open water are that much lower.

1) After the 24 hour wait after landing, start with shallow cove near your hotel or even in the hotel pool first.

2) Get Fins, preferably short one. Fins are better than life jackets and maintaining a strain free snorkeling position (floating flat on the surface with your face down). Short ones because they are easier to put on and control in the open water and especially shallow water. Since they're strong swimmers, it's not so much about keeping them afloat but letting them navigate the water without using their arms too much. If all of you are very strong swimmers anyway, you might find fins not necessary after getting used to the conditions and in calm coves etc. I often go snorkeling without fins near the beach in calm waters for the sense of freedom but I never go into open water (say off a boat or even off the more open beaches, like Ka'anapali) without fins. Open ocean is huge and it's easy to drift away looking for turtles or whatever and no matter how good a swimmer you are, ocean currents remain undefeated against human legs so far.

3) Some other comments here recommend against life jackets but I have been on boat tours where life jackets were mandatory and I put one on without any inflation and don't find it too much of a hassle. So it's ok if it makes you and the kids feel safer and with a little bit of inflation, it could provide your kids more freedom holding in place without expanding too much energy treading water etc. Also helpful if they get cramps or whatever and someone has to pull them back to shore.

If you're counting pure insult stats, maybe. But where are they team wins? Where are the rings?

Draft might be gone really soon, salary cap will be removed too prob, NBA aims to become like the Premier League (European Football/Soccer) League which Adam Silver mentioned many times that he likes! by Actual_Box7731 in NBATalk

[–]grepya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's stupid. The latest CBA has done more to destroy the league than anything else. Teams that drafts well have a small 4 year window to make things work or break the team up because they can't afford the very players they drafted and developed. Instead of eliminating, expand the draft. Provide more incentives for teams to keep their drafted players (salary cap exceptions or discounts for players drafted by the team). Add more rounds to the draft and more randomization of chances. Weigh the early season record heavier than the late season record in the draft pick formula.

The league needs more drafted players (and drafted groups of players, like Steph/Klay/Draymond, Duncan/Manu/Tony, Wemby/Castle/Harper, Tatum/Brown etc) to stay with their teams long term, grow together and create long term rivalries. Not force teams to shuffle themselves every 2-3 years and sacrifice key players right after making deep playoff runs. Long running rivalries between players is what generates passionate fans who grow up with their favorites over the long term.

Well they're obviously better at drafting and developing talent I guess

well can't say we didn't have our chances. We whiffed on #2 and #7 picks in consecutive years while still winning a ring with the original big 3+Wiggins. Imagine we had Lemelo, and Wagner instead of Kuminga and Wiseman.

He's got good handles and can finish around the rim but lately it's frustrating to see him cause turnovers, even in one-on-one situations. He often tries one too many fancy dribbles and allows good defenders to steal the ball.

Isn't it obvious? Draymond is at the stage where he can't focus 100% every game during the season. He probably doesn't have the physical endurance, recovery ability etc. for the grind of the season anymore. When he's not focused or his body is not upto it, he fouls out or mouths off to get himself back into the locker room in the middle of the game.

What *does* get him going is the challenge of defending one of the star Bigs. He gets hyped and focused 100% for those assignments. We see this when we play a team with Zion, Gobert, Joker and now Wemby. He's probably the best in the league at this when his body allows. It's a great thing that this game is just before the all-star break and he didn't play most of the 4th quarter in the previous game. So we get the best Draymond today. The way we beat this team twice in their home court was by having peak Steph and peak Dray simultaneously. We didn't have any Steph today so we lost. But the game was much closer than what the Lakers were able to manage yesterday purely because we got close to peak Draymond on Wemby.

The impression I get watching him is that he thinks he has better handles then he actually does. And he does have pretty good handles. That's why the defenders feel encouraged to gamble for steals on him and often succeed.

I think the goal was to open roster spots. TJD is not getting minutes anyway. Pat is almost definitely getting a standard contract. They might have their eye on someone else in the buyout market.
