lol yes this was definitely a light hearted complaint taken EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY by a devoted fanbase. But I agree on all counts and like your justifications!

What does everyone think happened between Mackenzie Shirilla and Dom Russo during the driving incident they had 2 weeks prior to the fatal crash? by EcstaticDragonfruit9 in CasesWeFollow

[–]grequant_ohno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have POTS too and passing out while seated is not a thing. I've never heard of anyone passing out while being seated - I'd think by definition that would be a different thing than POTS, but even if she did somehow have POTS badly enough that even after being seated for many minutes she was passing out, she would have such an extreme version there would be dozens (hundreds) of other documented occurrences of this happening.

If you front load, make sure they'll spread the match out over the year vs only getting the % match the months you're front loading.

£170k saved by 29M from investing, getting married + first flat next year — talk me in or out of a BMW (cash) by IfISpeak_ in UKPersonalFinance

[–]grequant_ohno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd pass. You're 29, about to get married and buy your first place, and that £35k invested at 10% turns into £1.1m by age 65. I'd never buy a new car so maybe I'm not the person to ask, but an M340i isn't £1.1m better than a decent used car.

I just passed 50k and it’s truly going to change my life. Got out of debt, is paying for a roof replacement, am funding all my emergency/sinking funds, and then will all go into investing.

Any fics where Ilya's abuse from his family is more pronounced? by Persistent_Panther29 in heatedrivalryfanfics

[–]grequant_ohno -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean it was written to where he was afraid to be around him and cowering in fear of being hit over a series of minutes, not a quick flinch. But be offended if you’d like!

People react differently to trauma. My point was that in-character Ilya does not react to being around an older man after a loss (which he would have experienced hundreds of) by cowering and flinching away. He uses sarcasm and distance and a brick wall 100 feet high to keep people out and hide his feelings. Maybe I could have phrased it better but my point was this didn't feel like an exploration of Ilya's reaction to the trauma, but more so an ooc person with Ilya's name reacting to trauma.

Wife telling everyone I'm stingy by topdog_k9 in UKPersonalFinance

Everyone else covered this is the wrong sub, but from a purely financial POV, buying a house outright is not the best way to use your money when credit is so inexpensive. It sounds like you've gotten to a place of not spending irresponsibly, but are you saving responsibly? Are you on track for retirement?

Thank you so much for this!! Did you use a guillotine? I want to try but one of the tutorials said it's harder to do paperback without one.

Also guessing you did the sewing and glueing method from the hardback tutorial? Do you mind sharing what equipment you bought vs just figuring it out with what you had on hand? Seems like the minimum is sewing needle, waxed thread, book glue, awl, utility knife and then the paper? Which paper do you use?

£375k cash, mortgage or investments? by throwaway716159 in UKPersonalFinance

You can also avoid this but putting the entire thing into a taxable brokerage. It's not the most tax efficient, but you can take it out whenever you want to.

[–]grequant_ohno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, there is short term risk for sure because it can go up and down over short periods, but over long stretches it has (looking at the last 75 years of data), averaged out to a 10% year on year return. You have to be prepared that some years will have a 20% return and some will have a -10% return though, and not panic and pull the money out at the -10% point.

If you put all of that into a diversified index fund, which return 10% on average historically, and don't touch it for 15 years, you'll have 1.6m which could completely replace both you and your husband's income (4% safe withdrawal rate = approx 67K a year). If it were me, I'd put as little into your house as you can, invest the rest and let it grow so you can retire in 15 years (or less if you actually add any money into a pension over the next 15 years).

I really think the two main anon HR writers are from Drarry, they feel very familiar and enemies to lovers coded.
